After a long hiatus for what’s on my radar, I’m finally back with another one! Let’s waste no time and get right to it! Here’s everything I’m anticipating this month!
TV
April marks the return of many shows including Insecure, Killing Eve, and How to Get Away With Murder. Finally! Especially HTGAWM! I was way behind on that show but was spoiled about a character’s certain return and oh my goodness, I made sure to catch up because I am so excited to see what happens with them back in the picture! This show sure knew how to get me back to watching asap hahaha. Also, the series finale of Schitt’s Creek airs on April 7th and the two-hour series finale of Modern Family (ABC) airs on April 8th . I’m one of the ones who has been watching Modern Family all of this time (even though I’m slightly behind at the moment) but I am going to catch up before Wednesday’s bittersweet finale.
I’m also really excited for HBO’s latest documentary, Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered: The Lost Children, Amazon Prime’s sci-fi series Tales From the Loop, and the new drama Defending Jacob from Apple+ mainly because Michelle Dockery and Chris Evans star in it.
Movies/Documentaries
I was SO pumped for Onward to hit Disney+ and I wasn’t disappointed! The world building was my favorite. I can’t wait to watch it again. Netflix has some interesting titles releasing this month as well including but not limited to Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story and Circus of Books. You can bet I’ll be watching those as soon as they premiere!
Books
New releases that I am especially excited for this month include Ruthless Gods by Emily A. Duncan, Mad, Bad & Dangerous to Know by Samira Ahmed, Ghost Squad by Claribel A. Ortega, This is My Brain in Love by I.W. Gregorio, The Book of Koli by M.R. Carey, The Deck of Omens by Christine Lynn Herman, The Silence of Bones by June Hur, and Incendiary by Zoraida Córdova.
With most states under lockdown due to COVID-19, all events have been either cancelled, postponed, or moved online. Thankfully, many bookish events have moved online so we don’t have to miss out on anything. There are plenty of virtual events happening this month, from book launches and interviews to book readings and full on book festivals including NOVL Couchfest, WB Reader Fest, Penguin Random House Virtual Book Con, and YallWest which has changed to YallStayAtHome. The full list of virtual book launches and festivals can be seen here, the page that I typically reserve and update for LA Events.
