January 2017 Releases On My Radar

Happy New Year!

I am so excited for a whole new year of blogging! My ninth year of blogging come February! Time flies. I’d say it’s time for the blog to get a (long overdue) makeover soon so stay tuned for that. After the election, I also made the decision to make all of my book reviews moving forward on Hollywood the Write Way diverse reads. Otherwise, books that I’ll feature will be in spotlights and round ups – all full reviews will be on Goodreads, so be sure you’re following me there. I’m also aiming to go back to the old school Hollywood the Write Way pattern of essentially nonstop reviews, interviews, and more across all of the mediums that I cover here so stay tuned for lots of TV, movie, music, and bookish goodness this year! In pulling back on the blog in recent years, I’ve rediscovered my love for blogging so you might get sick of me? Only time will tell!

So what’s releasing this month that I’m excited about? As far as movie theater releases go, I’d say my most anticipated movies are Hidden Figures and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. I might have to see the latter on my birthday weekend! That should be fun!

In TV & Movie Blu-ray/DVD releases, 12 Monkeys: Season Two comes out this month and my goodness, if you aren’t watching 12 Monkeys on Syfy, what is WRONG with you? Syfy is amazing because they marathon their shows right before a new season premieres so if you don’t want to catch up On Demand, keep an eye out for a marathon soon and DVR it so you can binge binge binge all 26 episodes (13 episodes each season) before season three. You’re welcome. As for movies, The Girl on the Train comes out on Blu-ray/DVD this month and I never did get the chance to see it in theaters so I’m excited about seeing this soon. And the book is still pretty fresh in my head since I read it last Spring, so no re-read needed. Woo!

Finally, books! You guys. The audiobook for Flying Lessons and Other Stories, a collection of diverse short stories edited by Ellen Oh is narrated by authors Ellen Oh, Kwame Alexander, and Meg Medina among many other talented narrators. That’s pretty cool. I love it when authors narrate! Stay tuned for my full audiobook review this week! Now if I had to guess, I’d say the book that will break me this month will be History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera. That boy can WRITE. Oh my goodness. Am I tearing up just thinking about how he’ll ruin me this time? Trying not to. As for the debut that I’m most anticipating… it is without question Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson (read the synopsis here). Whoa. And and and, I’m very excited about a cozy new Kasie West read which comes out on my birthday! So, all in all, this year looks to be getting off on a great start in TV, movies, and books! I think this year will be a really great year for movies, which is saying a lot since the past few years have sucked. So, I’m very much looking forward to some awesome movies this year. This summer is gonna be lit! Before that though, I’d like to see a Broadway show before the winter’s end, so we shall see. I’ve been so broke and “far away” (South Jersey) and out of touch with NYC but I will be back to visit you soon, my love!

So what are you excited for this month?
