Each month, #BuyIndiePress puts the spotlight on indie books from a handful of small presses and the like. All of the details are at the Buy Indie Press page.
Today, I’m so excited to put the spotlight on a number of self published YA & NA authors on my radar! If you missed part one, here it is! Now, for part two! Stay tuned for part three!
Jennifer Ellision

In April 2014, Jennifer Ellision published Threats of Sky and Sea (ISBN:978-1494955847), which is a wonderful debut novel and the beginning of her young adult fantasy trilogy (Add it to Goodreads) which continues with the August 2015 release of Riot of Storm (ISBN: 978-1515288152) and concludes with Fall of Thrones and Thorns (ISBN:978-1537334653), which released this past September. I absolutely loved the novellas as well which I highly recommend reading if you like what you see in Threats of Sky and Sea. Novellas are hit or miss for me and hers are definite hits.
In addition, Jennifer released her new adult standalone contemporary novel, Now and Again (ISBN:978-1518655081) last fall, which you can add to Goodreads here. I have not read the contemporary title but it is on my TBR list and I’m picky about contemporary so that’s saying something!
Jessica Sorensen
Official – Twitter – Facebook – Instagram
Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who began her self publishing journey with the young adult paranormal novel, The Fallen Star (ISBN: 978-1461052142) which released April 11, 2011. The Fallen Star is the first in a four book series (Add it to Goodreads) which is followed by The Fallen Souls duology spinoff (Add it to Goodreads) and the Shattered Promises series (Add it to Goodreads), a New Adult re-imagining of The Fallen Star series.
Since the release of The Fallen Star, Sorensen has released dozens of novels, both Young Adult and New Adult. Her latest is the young adult standalone contemporary romance, The Opposite of Ordinary (ISBN: 978-1539591085) which released October 19, 2016 (Add it to Goodreads). I am blown away by the amount of content Jessica has been able to create and release in such a short amount of time and I definitely cannot wait to dive into her work and see if the quality measures up. I’ve heard great things about her work so I am very excited.
Brenna Aubrey
Official – Twitter – Facebook – Instagram – Pinterest
Brenna Aubrey is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the New Adult Contemporary Romance series, Gaming the System (Add it to Goodreads) which begins with At Any Price (ISBN: 978-1940951027). Brenna first came onto my radar two years ago, when I read Hugh Howey’s Case Study on her self publishing journey.
Since the release of her debut novel on December 8, 2013, Brenna has released six books total in the Gaming the System series. In At Any Price, we meet Mia Strong, a well known gaming blogger who auctions off her virginity online. Talk about a great pitch! Clearly, this book isn’t for everyone but if you’re the least bit intrigued, you should definitely add this to your list of books to read and consider reading it this winter to add a bit more steam to your next fireside reading session.
