It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is a FREEBIE so I chose Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Seeing Being Adapted Into Syfy Mini Series. If you’re not familiar with Syfy mini series, Tin Man is one of my favorites as well as the most recent, Ascension which is easily the best one they’ve done thus far. Neverland is also notable. Below, I’ve laid out a few series I think would work very well as mini series on my favorite network. Check it out:
1. Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
Everything about this works for adapting the novel to the small screen taking the mini series route. This would be absolutely magnificent. The tone, the character development, the pacing, the world, everything seems like it would line up wonderfully with the right cast and crew involved in bringing this to the screen.
2. What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang
I admit, I have not finished this trilogy yet but based on what I’ve read so far, I think this would be great as a mini series. The pacing is pretty perfect for that medium.
3. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Syfy’s Eric Balfour (Haven) is set to bring this story to the small screen but it’s unclear where he’s going with this and when. It would be awfully fitting to see it come to Syfy after the release of the third book.
4. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
I’d much rather see this series adapted to film but if it made its way to TV, a mini series on Syfy would be so much fun. Especially if each night were dedicated to each book in the series. Oh man, that would be GREAT.
5. Wool by Hugh Howey
I believe 20th Century Fox has the film rights to this but if not a movie, this could make for a really magnificent mini series.
6. Origin by Jessica Khoury
I can see it now playing out in my head and it is so beautiful. Oh man, this would be so visually stunning on the screen.
7. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I’m shocked this hasn’t been adapted yet, I don’t know why Hollywood is dragging its feet with this. If the option is up, I think Syfy would be perfect.
8. Across the Universe by Beth Revis
I’d much rather see this adapted to film but if it came to TV, a Syfy mini series is the way to go. Especially with the budget that Syfy puts aside for its mini series.
9. Angelfall by Susan Ee
It’s not easy to write an unforgettable, outstanding story about angels but this one is a true winner and I think it would work very well with the Syfy brand.
10. Enclave by Ann Aguirre
One word. Zombies.
What are your favorite Syfy mini series? Do you think any of the above would make good ones?
I really love this list! I'd love a BBC-style Cinder series, where the series are short, but each book is an entire series. I think the reason Uglies hasn't been done yet is that beauty is fairly subjective so it's hard to visually attain perfection for every human being (also no body wants to be cast as an ugly person).
Nice list of books!! Here's my TTT post for the week: http://captivatedreader.blogspot.com/2015/01/top-ten-tuesday-authors-id-like-to-meet.html
