Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Book Goals For 2014

It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Top Ten Book Goals For 2014. My goals are essentially the same as last year’s. See:

1. Read all of the books on my shelf that I have yet to read.
Same goal as last year. This time I will achieve it!

2. Limit ebook purchases to 3 per month until I catch up on reading.
I realize that the kindle daily deals are too good to pass up so I had to adjust this goal from last year to limiting my purchases rather than eliminating the option, even if for a little while.

3. Cut my TBR list in half.
Details on how I will achieve this are here.

4. Start reading YA books by the year they released.
In 2006/2007, my focus was on school and reading for my own enjoyment took a back seat…for a couple of years. I’ve always wanted to catch up on the books I missed out on and thought this would be a great way to catch up considering I do want to get to a point where my TBR pile only includes books released in the month that I’m in and future books.

5. Review as many books as I can as soon as I finish reading.
Same goal as last year, only this time I plan to read more so that will actually reflect more.

6. Schedule more posts.
Same goal as last year and so far, so good.

7. Take part in more read-alongs.
Last year’s goal was a success! I’ve found read-a-longs to be very easy and fun to participate in so I am on the lookout for plenty this year.

8. Take part in more read-a-thons.
I’ve found that read-a-thins aren’t my thing. But I don’t want to give up after three or so times of participating. I want to try a few more times and then decide whether or not read-a-thons really are or aren’t for me.

9. Get another bookcase.
I bought a bookcase last year and that was awesome. It’s already time for another one!

10. Donate 100 books to library.
I typically donate 50 or so books a year but would like to double that this year.

What are your book goals?

  1. These are good ones! Ambitious, but it sounds like you have got it under control. Limiting ebook purchases is a hard one for me. Happy 2014!

  2. I think it's awesome that you donate so many books to the library. I do, too! At my library, donated books are sold to the public by the Friends of the Library — I love to see the volunteers' faces light up when I bring them a big stack for donation. Just makes me feel good, you know?

Good luck with all your goals. Happy New Year!

  3. I like your book donation goal! I tend to see if any family or friends want the books on their way out, and then send them on to the library. 🙂
    Good luck with your goals!

  4. Thanks for stopping by guys!

Yes, very ambitious! I wouldn't have it any other way. 🙂

Yeah, donating is very important to me whether it be books, blu-rays/dvds, clothes, food, etc… anyway I can donate, I make sure to but I definitely can donate more so here's to a bigger year! 🙂
