Kindle Reading Challenge

I don’t know about you but I am tired of seeing pages of unread books on my kindle. So it’s time to move the “TBR” kindle books to my “Read” list.

December 15, 2013 UPDATE: I attempted this challenge this past spring and summer with a list of 55 books. I read 14 books. I deleted 11 books. I added 7 other books (numbers 31-37). This brings my challenge to a total of 37 books.

Goal: Read all of the below books on my kindle from January 1, 2014 – June 1, 2014.

I will strikethrough each title/author once I’ve read a book. If you’re curious as to when I’ve read each book, visit my Goodreads page.

If you’d like to participate in this kindle challenge, feel free to leave a comment and if there’s enough interest, I’ll be sure to leave dates for discussion posts so we can “check in” with everyone.

  1. Woot! Lots of awesome πŸ˜€ I actually have none "real" bought books on my iPad Kindle. Just tons of free ones ;p I have all my books in hardcovers or paperbacks. <3
Ah, your list is awesome. Jellicoe Road is PERFECT πŸ˜€ As is The Immortal Rules. <3 Have read many others too, and I enjoyed most of them πŸ˜‰ I hope you will enjoy them all when you read them πŸ™‚
    Love, Carina

  2. This is a great idea Melody. I try to keep my kindle books organized into collections so I can easily find what I'm looking for, but still books kind of get lost there. I need to follow your lead and make a priority list.

Looks like you are in for some awesome reading. Jellicoe Road, Girl of Fire and Thorns, Immortal Rules, and Speechless are a few I've read / heard great things about.

  3. Thanks! Looking forward to reading my first Melina Marchetta book as well as my first Julie Kagawa book! πŸ˜€

Same! πŸ˜€ I also travel a lot so the kindle is what I use in those times but last year I didn't do much traveling so my kindle stack just kept rising!

When I do get kindle books, it's always through kindle daily deals and then if I like the book, I'll buy it in print during a BN/Amazon sale or at an indie book store. No need to buy and carry a load of hardcovers/paperbacks around if I'm not going to like them afterwards haha. Especially if bought at list price. That's the worst. I've been there! Never again lol. Ugh. My arms and wallet hurt just thinking about it.

And then in the case of The Lying Game #4, I just HAD to have it when it came out and couldn't afford the hardcover at the time but of course I still haven't read it. Hahaha. So that's first on my list to devour. πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks! I actually didn't even have Girl of Fire and Thorns high on my list when I first bought it but it seems the past few months everyone has been talking about their love for Rae Carson, so I couldn't help but move it to the top of my list! Looking forward to it!

I just organize my kindle books by Read and TBR since after I read a book on there, if I like it, I'll go get it in print and then organize it on my physical shelf how I like.

I think at the end of this challenge I'll say how many of these books I'll be buying in print but I won't say which ones. Guess everyone will find out whenever I decide to do a bookshelf tour though lol. But don't expect that until after I move back to LA and that could be the end of the year. πŸ˜€

  5. Oh, I have too many books to list that are sitting unread on my Kindle app! I need to go on a buying ban until I get to them all…
