The Time Traveler’s Wife hits theaters today and Hollywood the Write Way was able to speak with sisters, Hailey McCann and Tatum McCann who play Alba, the daughter of Clare (Rachel McAdams) and Henry (Eric Bana) at different ages. You have seen Hailey in Punk’d (MTV) and Jericho (CBS) and you’ve seen Tatum in ER (NBC), Ghost Whisperer (CBS), and Click (2006). These young actresses talked about everything from their favorite part about working with Rachel and Eric in The Time Traveler’s Wife to getting into character and so much more! Check it out below:
How was the movie premiere?
Hailey: It was so much fun! I got to talk to Rachel (McAdams) and Eric (Bana) some more…and I met Brad Pitt!
Tatum: We saw the movie for the first time and the movie was amazing!
What was your favorite part of the movie?
Hailey: My favorite part was when I got to shoot with Tatum.
Tatum: Yeah, my favorite part was when I got to work with Hailey. We are best friends so it was great to work together.
Would you want a husband that could travel through time?
Hailey: Umm…probably not. I don’t know, that’s a really crazy life.
Tatum: No. That seems weird.
What was it like playing the same role with your sister but at different ages?
Hailey: It was really cool since we had never gotten to work with each other before.
Tatum: I loved that I knew how to act since I know my sister…I know her mannerisms and how to act so it was great.
What is your favorite part about your character?
Hailey: She looked out for her mom when her dad was gone. She was very loving and helpful.
Tatum: I love that Alba can time travel and control it. She can go into the future and see her dad wherever he was so she wouldn’t miss him.
What did you learn from working with Robert Schwentke, the director of the movie?
Hailey: Everything…mainly have fun with it when I get into character. It was a great experience.
Tatum: I learned a lot from him. Directors are very different. Some are particular about details and others are not.
Had you heard of the book before getting the role?
Hailey: No, I hadn’t.
Tatum: I had heard of it but it didn’t occur to me until after my mom bought the book.
Did the author of the book, Audry Niffenegger ever come on the set?
Hailey: I think she came on set once but I am not sure.
Out of everything that you have done, what has been your favorite TV or film role?
Tatum: I would say when I was Emily in Ghost Whisperer. I drowned in the episode but in real life I love to swim, so that was fun. The pool was really nice. I got to work with Jennifer Love Hewitt and she was so nice.
The Time Traveler’s Wife opens in theaters today.
I think Tatum is the cutest kid ever. I wish she was mine. Even though i'm only thirteen.
