Gossip Girl On Location

Earlier today I went to NYC to have a Gossip Girl day. On Location Tours runs a Gossip Girl Sites Tour that I was very excited to go on. The tour lasted for 3 hours with tour guide Lindsey Gentile and began at the New York Palace Hotel. Gossip Girl fans know it as the place where Serena and Chuck call home. There was lots to see in the Upper East Side and the Lower East Side including the building of Blair’s Fifth Avenue home, Constance Billard (shoots at 2 different locations), The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Grand Central Station, Geisha, Butter, etc…and let’s not forget where the Upper East Siders shop! The tour stopped at Henri Bendel for 25 minutes so that the fans could shop! I don’t have $250 for a bangle but it was fun looking around! Now what would a tour be without stopping to get something to feed the fans? We stopped at Babycakes on Broome Street and Cafe Habana on Prince Street, both places you have seen Dan at. Oh, how could I forget Dylan’s Candy Bar? This is where Nelly Yuki runs into Dan and Vanessa and steals Dan’s phone. Remember that? Dylan’s Candy Bar, owned by Dylan Lauren (Ralph Lauren’s daughter) is a new stop on the Gossip Girl tour, as new stops are constantly being added. Thank goodness for this stop! I went away with some goods and now that I know where this store is…I have to pace myself with visiting this place! I believe there were 30 stops in all and everyone of them I recognized from the show but if I hadn’t that would have been fine since you watch scenes from the show on the coach tour bus after you pass or stop at each location.

Now there were a few things I learned about the filming of this show while on the tour. The masquerade was shot in 2 different filming locations. The show films inside of the New York Palace Hotel, not just the exterior. In fact, the only time Gossip Girl shoots in a studio (in Queens) is for shooting interiors of everyone’s homes. Where Dan and Jenny call home, Williamsburg, Brooklyn…well the cast and crew have never even filmed over there. Chuck’s club, The Vitrola is shot at The Box on Chrystie Street and it is not easy to find! There are more fun facts you can learn when you go on the tour next time you are in the NYC area and have time to do so. I suggest you go soon because fans who go on the tour get a 20% off coupon for Henri Bendel for a limited time only!

I had a great time visiting many of the filming locations of Gossip Girl and definitely recommend this tour for all Gossip Girl fans.

  1. Wow! It seems like you really go to all the places that S and B venture to! I didn't know Dylan's Candy Bar was on the tour- that's SO cool, I love that place!!!! Is is always a stop?

  2. It is a new addition to the tour and if the Gossip Girl fans give good feedback on this tour stop, I am sure that Dylan's Candy Bar will remain a permanent stop on the tour. 🙂
