August 2024 TV, Movie, & Book Releases on My Radar

Books

If you’re in the Austin area on August 11th, I will be moderating the book event for The House Where Death Lives at BookPeople! More details are here. I hope to see you there!

As for other August releases, I can’t say that I’ve sat down to really dig into the last of the summer releases but there are a few titles that come to mind. This Ravenous Fate by Hayley Dennings. Also, Drown Me with Dreams, the sequel to Sing Me to Sleep by Gabi Burton. If you are a sci-fi girlie like myself, put Full Speed to a Crash Landing by Beth Revis and The Mercy of Gods by James S. A. Corey on your list. I also believe Dance of the Starlit Sea by Kiana Krystle and Mysterious Ways by Wendy Wunder also come out this month as well. I’m sure there are plenty more August releases that I am missing but that’s a great starting point for me!

TV:

The Umbrella Academy is the only show in August that I care about. I’m probably going to binge it in the first two days of its release. It’s the final season and I am excited to see how it all comes together.

On the unscripted side, I am interested in the docu-series, Hollywood Black on MGM+ which I hope gets promoted more and people don’t miss out on. I haven’t really looked into it so for me, it’s unclear if this is a limited series or if there are plans for a second season. Either way, definitely looking forward to checking this out.

Movies

This August is not exactly the month for breakout movies or anything. Generally speaking, this summer has been a real bummer for movies. Yes, I’m excited for M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap starring Josh Hartnett and yes I’m looking forward to eventually watching Alien: Romulus but aside from that, August leaves little to be desired. HBO is releasing a documentary, Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes which I’ll definitely check out. These three titles aside, I’ll be sticking to my watchlist and catching up other movies that I haven’t yet seen.

What are you anticipating this month?
