The only must haves for me his month are A Quiet Place: Day One and Inside Out 2. As long as I see these, June will be complete. I have been to the movies twice this year, I believe? Definitely the opposite of my routine. So I’m excited to return this month for two of my most highly anticipated movies of the year. It’s gonna be good!!!! I may or may not have A Quiet Place 1 & 2 playing on loop in the meantime. As for everything else this month on my radar? Let’s see…
Books
Much like last month, I’m not completely up to date on all of the June 2024 releases but one book I am excited about is We Shall Be Monsters by Tara Sim. It’s Frankenstein meets Indian mythology. Yes, please! But this month, I will continue to catch up on series I never finished, graphic novels included. I’m catching up on Fables right now and having the time of my life. I will definitely have to circle back to June 2024 releases, that’s for sure!
Returning TV:
The Bear and The Boys are the only shows returning in June that I am anticipating. If you haven’t watched those, I would highly recommend the former. Though just know going into it that it is a dramedy, it most certainly is not a straight up comedy. As for the latter, yeah, I watch it but that’s not a show that I go around recommending to the general public due to its gore and mature content and the fact that it fridged the girlfriend of the main character in the very first episode of the series. So yeah….. watch The Bear if you haven’t yet, definitely worth it!
New TV:
I’m excited for Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse on Magnolia. I’ve always been a Magnolia fan, so felt this was worth mentioning. One of the handful of unscripted shows I watch and enjoy. I’ve already watched the screeners for the Hulu docuseries, Cult Massacre: One Day In Jonestown which premieres on the 17th, so stay tuned for my thoughts on that. I haven’t heard anyone talk about the upcoming Erased: WW2’s Heroes of Color series but I am definitely going to tune in. It’s extremely puzzling to me why this didn’t premiere on Memorial Day but that figures. They really took Erased and ran with it.
As for scripted, I am super nervous about Orphan Black: Echoes on AMC. Orphan Black is one of my favorite shows ever so I already know that this companion series isn’t go to meet those expectations. But I am just hoping and praying it’s fine. I am however very excited for the FX mini series Clipped and the latest Star Wars series, The Acolyte. I’m also excited about Supacell, a British superhero series coming to Netflix. Finally, there’s My Lady Jane which, I’ve owned the book since it came out (it’s co-written by an author I love, Cynthia Hand) but haven’t read because I’m just not a historical girly but I might have to at least watch the first episode of the adaptation on Amazon Prime.
Movies
As previously mentioned, the only movies that I am excited to see this month are Inside Out 2 and A Quiet Place: Day One. Literally, nothing else matters. A Quiet Place is one of my favorite movie franchises ever. These are my most anticipated movies of the year and the fact that they are coming out in the same month is not lost on me. It’s going to be a GOOD movie month for me! Woohoo!!!
