The Mother of Black Hollywood: A Memoir by Jenifer Lewis (ABC’s Blackish) releases this month and honestly, it’s the only November book release that matters to me. But if I must mention others…let’s see…let’s see…if you haven’t yet read the work of Jasmine Warga, make it a point to do so as soon as you can. Her books are so beautiful and I can’t wait to hear how much you love them when you’re finished. I’m also anticipating new words from Tahereh Mafi, Marissa Meyer, and Erin Bowman this month as well as an incredibly powerful memoir from Nadia Murad, a really inspiring nonfiction by Joy Mangano (yep, the Joy that Jennifer Lawrence played in Joy), and Pete Souza’s collection of photographs of President Barack Obama.
As for movies, I’m most anticipating A Bad Moms Christmas and Thor: Ragnarok. Let It Snow is supposed to release this month but there has been radio silence surrounding the book to movie adaptation ever since the movie deal was announced so I honestly have no clue what’s happening with that movie.
When it comes to TV, the return of Life in Pieces is finally, I repeat, FINALLY here. This is one of my favorite comedies on TV so I have been itching for more and I am so glad the time has finally come. Oh man, I missed this show. Hiatus is a REAL struggle when this show takes its break. But it’s back soon so yay! Hulu drops the entire first season of Future Man starring Josh Hutcherson in two weeks. Hulu also welcomes in the highly anticipated Marvel’s Runaways. And the second season of Glitch comes to Netflix, does anybody watch this show? Finally, a must watch is I Am Elizabeth Smart on A&E/Lifetime with Smart has been working on for some time now.
