Futuristic for My Fifth Loot Crate Haul

It’s time for another haul of the ultimate geek subscription box, Loot Crate!

Loot Crate is a monthly mystery crate for gamers, geeks and fans of pop culture, delivering cool (and often exclusive!) items like collectibles, t‑shirts, gadgets and more. There’s a $45+ value in every crate!

The Loot:

The theme for this month’s box was Futuristic! I was initially super pumped when I saw the theme. But after opening the box, felt that this was a huge missed opportunity to really nail it. This box could have been AMAZING but instead was meh. So what was inside this box?

  • Rick and Morty Tee (Loot Crate Labs)

Since I don’t watch anything on Adult Swim, this one went right over my head. But it’s good to know that if I am interested in diving into that channel, I can float on this show and be more than satisfied.

  • Futurama “Planet Express” Ship Model (QMX)

I do remember when Futurama first came on the air and I did in fact catch a few episodes. But when the show first began, I was a kid. Needless to say, much of the comedy went right over my head and I knew that the show was funny but I also knew that it wasn’t for me at this point in time. So this exclusive is just a little reminder that, hey! I’m an adult now! I’ll get the jokes. Time to catch up on this one.

  • 3” Mega Man Red Variant Figure (KidRobot)

As you know if you’ve been following my Loot Crate hauls, I’m not a gamer so this one also went right over my head but it is pretty adorable.

  • Star Trek Dedication Plaque Replica Decal (BD&A)

It’s Star Trek. Obviously, this is amazing. I don’t know where I’ll put this yet but I’m holding onto it for just the right place. Note that this decal will cover 4.5 x 3 inches of the surface you choose to stick it on.

  • Star Trek Pin (Loot Crate)

This Star Trek pin is by far the absolute best pin from Loot Crate that I’ve received. I mean. LOOK AT IT. The salute! It is a beauty. See below. Also, the magazine says “Loot long and prosper.” Hahaha. Whoever made that pun gets all of the cookies.

  • 4001 A.D. #1 (Valiant Comics)

This comic was not previously on my radar, even when it was apparently available during a Free Comic Book Day so I’m glad that I was able to check it out though I wasn’t blown away like I wanted to be. That said, while it’s not for me, it is pretty good and I can see how this would work for someone else, so don’t write this one off if it’s on your list of comics to read.
