TV Review: Dark Matter Episode 202 “Kill Them All”

An all new episode of Syfy’s Dark Matter airs tonight! It’s the great escape! You don’t want to miss this!

In tonight’s episode, Two (Melissa O’Neil), Three (Anthony Lemke), and Four (Alex Mallari Jr.) are almost killed on their assigned job in the detention facility before an unlikely ally saves them at the last minute. It doesn’t take long for the crew to get questioned and offered immunity for the first person who spill the beans on what happened on the ship.

Even Six (Roger Cross) is questioned for not turning them in sooner. Yikes! I love how conflicted Six is (and we know after seeing how it went down, has been since he found out the truth). It’s so great to see him always trying to make amends, even when the crew is not yet where he is and cannot find it in them to forgive and trust him again. It’s going to take time but it looks like he’s ready to hold on.

As for the others…if Four doesn’t help in the investigation, he could be sent back to his homeland and executed. But the only one open to even hearing about a deal is Three. So Commander Truffault (Torri Higginson) sneakily gives him a map of the prison through her eyes! Talk about being slick! I love how clever this show is! Such out of the box thinking. Who would have ever thought an escape plan could be matched in the way that you see in this episode? It’s brilliant!

Sp with no idea where Five and One are, they decide it best to move on with the plan as they’ll be stronger free and on their own before going to save them too. Can’t save someone else if you can’t save yourself.

Their prison ally, Nyx (Melanie Liburd) offers up her help, the supply run schedule which will help with the timing of the escape, in exchange for being able to escape with them. Unfortunately, there’s a delay in the schedule (typical) but the crew still finds a way to keep on with the plan. And boy do they throw down! Get ready for some action tonight!

Meanwhile, I love that The Android (Zoie Palmer) refuses to help in the investigation and says that she will only take orders from those in the crew. She doesn’t make it easy either, noting that Six may never really have been a true member of the crew! Ha! Got ’em! When the big dogs in charge bring in Five to order the Android to give up the information, Five instead orders Android to kill them all! Go ahead, Five and Android!!!! Stone cold! Talk about the big plan for the bad guys backfiring! Ha! Kill or be killed. I love, love, love seeing Five, a sixteen year old girl being able to hold her own, think on her feet just like the rest of the crew, and make these really tough life or death decisions with careful calculation and confidence. She’s smart and street smart. A BAMF. It doesn’t get better than that. And this “Kill Them All” scene is obviously one of my favorite Five scenes but also one of my favorite scenes of the entire series, easy. So freaking good!

With Five and Android roaming the halls for an escape, they run into Two, Three, and Four and together, make their grand escape! Yes! The gang’s all back! But with a victory, trouble isn’t too far behind. While watching the news, the crew gets an unfortunate update on One (Marc Bendavid) – unclear what’s to become of this story line…and one other downfall they’re not yet aware of is that someone is after Five (Jodelle Ferland) and coming straight for them! Lots of action and story development here and I am so excited to see what comes next! Another rockin’ episode of Dark Matter in the books! If the first two episodes of the season are any indication of what we can expect for the rest of the season, this summer is going to be absolutely fantastic!
