12 Monkeys is killing it this season! No sophomore slump here! An all new episode airs tonight and I’ve had the pleasure of catching the next few episodes early so check out my thoughts on what’s ahead! No messenger, traveler or primary talk to avoid big spoilers but do not continue reading if you don’t want to know about what’s coming up!
Episode 2.04 “Emergence”
Airs Tonight at 9/8c on Syfy
Katarina sends Ramse to 1944 to help Cole and Cassandra and bring them home. This means an unforgettable encore of the previous episode, now with Ramse’s POV and the aftermath of what happens as these two journeys, Ramse’s and Cole & Cassandra’s converge. I loved every single moment. Episodes like these give an extra spark of excitement because we get to see just how many wheels have been turning the whole time.
Along with the trio in 1944, there’s quite the development in discovering what the 12 Monkeys are up to now. “Emergence” is the perfect title for this episode. They find out as Katarina is finding out in 2044 in her own way. Magic happens. Just you wait. So now the question is, whose side is time on? And… will Emily Hampshire always steal every scene she’s in as Jennifer? Why is she so perfect as Jennifer? Perfect, I say! No matter what time period. More happens but I’ve shared more than enough before the episode airs as is. Another absolutely divine episode in the books.

Episode 2.05 “Bodies of Water”
Airs Monday, May 16, 2016 at 9/8c on Syfy
If there were an award for the funniest episode this season, this one might take the cake. There’s comedy. There’s action. It’s ruthless. We’re back in 2016. Cassandra kicks butt which is always so fun to see now. Cole and Ramse come together in their distaste for Deacon’s savage ways. Man. The things that bring these former best friends now it’s complicated pals on the same page. The things. A familiar face returns, if only for a moment. Totally wasn’t expecting that…
Jennifer goes from being the one who needs to be saved to be the one who saves another. As usual, I loved the Jennifer developments (and boy they are great) but unlike what we’ve seen before, I also loved this as sane as she can get version of 2016 Jennifer and how she has to accept that her crazy almost destroyed the world but it can also save it. I loved it.
Also worth mentioning, James Murray (Impractical Jokers) makes a cameo. Is it safe to say at this point that the other guys from the show will pop up in the rest of this season because at this rate it seems so. Anyway, again, I’ve shared more than I think I should have before the episode has aired so perhaps I should begin to zip it and move onto the next…

Episode 2.06 “Immortal”
Airs Monday, May 23, 2016 at 9/8c on Syfy
I’d be lying if I said I wanted the pacing to slow down a bit so we could have stayed in 1944 longer before adding another era to the mix. But here we are in 1975. And that’s really all I can say about this episode because anything else would be serious spoilers since I have left out so much in the recap of the previous two episodes. Solid story. Wicked reveal at the end.
Part of me is super excited about the reveal though another part of me is still in the new 2044 BAMF Cassie mode so to get a glimpse of what’s ahead here has me worried that her character arc might be on speed this season. So I do have some concern here but that’s my only one. Now that she’s made herself of value I don’t want her to become just a plot device and this is the only point in time this season that I’ve had doubts but the writers haven’t disappointed me this far into the series so I’m hoping I’m just being paranoid,
What else I’m left wondering at the end of this episode is…was “Forever Red” an alternate title for the episode at some point because that would have worked perfectly too. Also, props to all for keeping the tone the consistent with the show even in 1975. They could have gotten really cheesy there but did not at all lean in that direction, not for a second. Greatly appreciated. Again, solid episode. Probably my least favorite of the season so far but still very much necessary for what’s about to go down. So be sure to tune in!
