300 Writing Prompts: Lazy Day

So my friend, Colleen over at Coll Writes has begun an awesome 300 writing prompts series on her blog and I have been compelled to join in! While I won’t be participating in every single prompt, I am very much looking forward to taking part in more than a handful, so let’s get right to the first prompt!

What’s your favorite way to spend a lazy day?

My favorite way to spend a lazy day begins with having my own encore presentation of my favorite Broadway shows. I do this by singing Hair, Rent, Spring Awakening, and two or three other shows at the top of my lungs, one song at a time without skipping a single one, until I have no voice.

Then, when I’ve reached the point between feeling parched and feeling like a lung will burst, I’ll make a cup of tea, grab a snack, and switch over to watching a movie or documentary that’s new to me and repeat the process until I fall asleep. Or I’ll choose to start watching a TV show that I’ve always wanted to try out but never get around to.

In this case, I usually don’t get much sleep as I set myself up for an entire weekend of watching only that television show for as many hours as my open eyelids will allow. Netflix (and Hulu but mainly the former) has made this routine much better for numerous reasons… especially since, I am not proud to say, I would find not so legal ways to binge before streaming was a widely accepted thing. So, thank you Netflix!
