New York Times best-selling author of Jesus > Religion challenges the accepted thinking of contemporary Christianity with the world-changing message Jesus actually brought. Jesus was most upset at people for seeing but not seeing. For missing it. For succumbing to the danger and idolatry of forcing God into preconceived ideals. What if there were a better way? What if Jesus came not to help people escape the world but rather to restore it?

Best-selling author and spoken word artist Jefferson Bethke says that ‘Christians have the greatest story ever told but we aren’t telling it.’ So in this new book, Bethke tells that story anew, presenting God’s truths from the Old and the New Testaments as the challenging and compelling story that it is – a grand narrative with God at the center. And in doing so, Bethke reminds readers of the life-changing message of Jesus that turned the world upside-down, a world that God is putting back together.

After reading Jeff’s first book, Jesus > Religion, I knew that I was in for a treat reading this. I am so happy to say that this book delivered the goods and more. This book is full of so much knowledge and so many heavy hitting moments that will deeply touch anyone reading, no matter where you are in your walk with Christ.

This is a book about grace, about restoration, about peace and celebration. This is a book about leaning on God completely and having a relationship with, true intimacy with Him. This is a book about letting God’s words speak for themselves rather than society speak for Him. Really, truly putting our trust in God and accepting the fact that He knows what is best for us at all times. It’s a kind reminder to stop the practice of forming Jesus in our own image and start accepting Jesus forming us in His. This is a book about valuing the freedom we have living in Christ.

We are still made in the image of God, no matter how broken that image.

I need to hear so much of this and if there’s an inkling of interest that you have in reading this book, I know thee’s something for you here too. If you are having trouble seeing your role in the story, in the Word of God, if you see the mountaintop but are still stuck at the signs along the pathway, if you need a gentle nudge to step into the unknown fearlessly and truly open your eyes to what matters in this walk with Jesus (hint: it’s not what you think), this is a wonderful book that I think will do wonders for your walk ahead. So be sure to pick up your copy today because it is well worth the read.
