After Holt is transferred to the NYPD Department of Public Relations, the new captain’s (guest star, Bill Hader) arrival causes the precinct to dissolve into chaos, despite Terry’s best efforts to keep everyone on point. Meanwhile, Jake and Amy face the aftermath of their “for reals” kiss.
What a solid return for Brooklyn Nine-Nine! In the season three premiere, it’s three hours after the big kiss so Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) are trying to figure out what to make of the new territory they’ve stumbled upon in their now blooming romantic relationship. They try to keep it simple and uncomplicated and well, you can imagine how that goes! I am so excited to see what becomes of this relationship as the season goes on. There is so much territory to cover here and the writers show no sign of slowing down bringing their A game so it’s just a matter of us viewers waiting each week to get the goods.
As for guest star, Bill Hader, his role on the show is quite small so if you thought he’d really be the new Captain, I hate to burst your bubble. This guest star is not sticking around for a multiple episode arc. I know, I was excited too for this prospect. Alas, we do find out who the actual new Captain is by the end of the episode. But no spoilers here. I will admit that I was quite surprised with the choice, an actor who has more of a dramatic background than comedic but the show has plenty of time to win me over and I’m sure they’ll succeed.
How’s the rest of the precinct? Holt and Madeline are still at it, their laugh out loud rivalry will likely never end. Terry and Rosa are still Terry and Rosa. And Boyle never disappoints being his nosy, needy, overenthusiastic problem solver, wish granting self. Everyone brings plenty of laughs and the physical comedy extends farther than Hader. *cough* Andre Braugher *cough* Knowing that this is just the season opener, just the beginning of what we can expect this season…get ready guys. This season is going to be a doozy. I am so very excited for the season ahead! If you’re a fan, be sure to watch the wildly hysterical season premiere of Brooklyn Nine-Nine when it airs later this month! You don’t want to miss it. It’s good.
