Dive in and rock out with the hottest surf sequel under the sun! Now that summer ‘s over and school has begun, Brady (Ross Lynch) and Mack’s (Maia Mitchell) relationship seems headed for a wipeout – until Lela, Tanner and the “Wet Side Story” kids show up! Dazzled by the novelty and variety of the modern world, Lela wants to stay, but the real world and the “reel” world just don’t mix. Can Mack and Brady find the magic to get the kids home and get their own romance back on track before it’s too late? Packed with electrifying song & dance numbers and hilarious fish-out-of-water wackiness, Teen Beach 2 is “wow-abunga” fun for everyone.
When I found myself watching Teen Beach Movie with my little cousins, I never imagined that I’d enjoy it so much that I’d make up excuses to watch it every time they came over because I didn’t want to watch it alone. Cut to today when I’m watching Teen Beach 2 all by myself, shamelessly. Loving every moment of it! Teen Beach 2 has all of the elements that made me enjoy Teen Beach Movie, easily making this a very satisfying, solid sequel.
The music and choreography are great. The characters, new and returning are just as entertaining as I’d hoped. Although the new characters are very minor and I think I expected the minor roles to play a tiny bit larger part. Oh well? The story was great as the “Wet Side Story” cast came into the real world. Because that’s what we viewers were all hoping for while watching the first one. So to see it come into fruition and really play up the contrast was fantastic.
I love the messages in the film, the message of female empowerment – yes to feminism! and the message that you have the freedom to do what you want but fate (which is a good thing) will always find you. I loved the movie’s comedic edge… I did laugh out loud more than a few times. I all around really enjoyed being entertained by this movie. That’s all it is. Pure entertainment that is sure to bring a smile to your face.
While there are a number of things that don’t really work logically, I was most bewildered by the “Wet Side Story” cast disappearing before the main “Wet Side Story” cast members, Lela and Tanner when they arrived in the real world after Lela and Tanner did. If you’re ready to suspend your disbelief long enough to just sit back and enjoy this musical movie that will take you on a ride you’ll never forget, watch Teen Beach 2. It’s not just for kids! And if you’re wondering, it doesn’t really matter which order you watch the movies but obviously you’ll get more out of it if you watch Teen Beach Movie first and then Teen Beach 2. Regardless, watch and enjoy!
