I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to jump into 5 Fandom Friday which was created by Megan (The Nerdy Girlie) and Kristin (Super Space Chick) and here it is! And if you like what you see below, be sure to check out my Top Ten Movie & TV Blogger Bits and my Entertainment Bucket List!
Here we go!
1. Those Times I Met J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon
As you can tell by the photo, the excitement was on a pretty ridiculous level when I met Joss Whedon and it was half because hello, Joss Whedon but half because I called his name while he was already in the middle of the street (at night, at SDCC) as a car was coming and I totally caught up to him and as you can see, we took a quick photo before the car got close enough to hit us! Talk about a rush. Ha ha!
Not too long after SDCC, I was a fan waiting outside the red carpet premiere for a movie that escapes me now but I went to a lot of red carpet premieres when I lived in LA (both as a fan and as press) for this very reason… to meet certain people that I probably wouldn’t meet otherwise! And to my amazement, J.J. was standing nearby. Immediately, the wheels were spinning in my head. I had to get him closer so I could tell him how much I loved his work and get a photo with him as well if possible. I turned to the stranger next to me and asked him to help me shout J.J.’s name to get his attention. It worked!
2. Those Times I Met Alicia Silverstone and Jaleel White
If you are a child of the 90s, I don’t need to tell you how awesome it was to meet Alicia Silverstone of Clueless and Jaleel White of Family Matters. At the time, Alicia was in Time Stands Still on Broadway which was fantastic. Here’s my review. I also will never get over riding all of the rides at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with my friends, Rosy and Sammi and Jaleel freaking White. Still a pinch me moment when I think about it. Thanks, Syfy!
3. Those Times I Met Joe Manganiello and Paul Johansson
My One Tree Hill heart went all a flutter when I met Joe Manganiello at a red carpet premiere (awhile after I interviewed him over the phone for the blog) and Paul Johansson when I found him shooting a movie right outside my Downtown LA apartment! I’m not going to lie, I had serious Dan feels and was totally angry when I first saw him. But then I quickly snapped out of it and had a mini freak out! I have never cried more over anything as a young adult than when One Tree Hill ended and it sounds bizarre but it’s so true. The show began when I was in middle school and ended in my twenties. It was my world. It was and will always be my everything and I am just so over the moon about these photos, they mean so much to me.
4. That Time I Ran Into Oscar Nuñez
When I lived in Downtown LA, I lived right by 7th and Fig and there’s a Starbucks there that I would often brave when I was on my way to the bookstore, church, or the rail (aka the subway and yes, there’s a subway in LA and it’s entirely possibly to get around LA without a car, I took the rail and metro bus the entire time I lived in LA), or write (before I found another Starbucks nearby that was not as high volume and more comfortable to spend the day there if I chose).
Well, to my surprise, this Starbucks wasn’t as busy as it usually was on this particular fine day and after I placed my order, I looked around to see where I could back up to wait for my order only to find Oscar Nuñez standing aside as well! In my state of shock, I totally said, “Oscar? What are you doing here?” Here as in here in Downtown LA ha ha ha and he mentioned the show was filming and based on my investigative skills, I can conclude that this filming was for the episode, “Business Trip.” In this particular instance, I had gone to Starbucks to write (see the notebook in my hand) but I was so excited that I completely forgot about my goal and instead speed walked home to tell my dad about my encounter and then call (back when people still called each other! what!!!) circle of The Office fanatics to freak out. Because ahhhh!!!!
5. That Time I Was at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with Rhys Ifans While Wearing my Harry Potter T-shirt
I think my Harry Potter heart almost exploded when I took a photo with Rhys Ifans aka Xenophilius Lovegood at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This was during the Syfy Press Tour when he was promoting Syfy’s Neverland. The whole adventure can be read about here!
