The Walking Dead (AMC)
Episode 5.09 “What Happened and What’s Going On”
I loved the return of The Walking Dead. I love the episodes that are quiet but so, so powerful and while I wasn’t expecting such a quiet episode for the midseason premiere, that doesn’t take away from the incredible episode here revolving around Tyreese. I, like so many others, didn’t want to say goodbye to Tyreese. But the execution of this episode was absolutely brilliant. I loved the red herring in the beginning and how the pieces to the puzzle shown in the beginning came together to paint one of the most heart tugging pictures of the season. It’s always such a heartbreaking moment when one of our own dies.
I loved that we got to see some long lost faces as they welcomed Tyreese to the other side. “It’s okay.” Oh, man! My eyes did water a bit, I’m not going to lie ha ha. This show just does that to me and man, I can’t wait to watch this episode again. I can’t wait. Yes, I’m partly torturing myself with having to relive loosing Tyreese but the art of it all was just so moving, I can’t wait to watch the encore before Sunday’s new episode!
GOTHAM (Fox) – Episode 1.15 “The Scarecrow”
Gordon and Bullock’s case this week was pretty interesting! A biology teacher and murderer who uses his victims glands to make a serum like invention to combat his fear? Pretty terrifying. I kind of wish this had had more emphasis in another episode so we got more time with it and it didn’t have to take a backseat to the other stories. Well two of the three others anyway.
I loved watching Fish Mooney in the state that she’s in, doing what she can to climb her way back to the top….meanwhile, watching Penguin turn her club into his own thanks to Falcone. It’s amazing how Penguin continues to work situations into his favor. Will Falcone regret being on his side, like Maroni currently does? Only time will tell.
Bruce Wayne’s hike wasn’t all that interesting to me so that entire storyline was a pass but it looks like Bruce’s storyline gets much more exciting next week so I’m very much anticipating it!
SCORPION (CBS) – Episode 1.16 “Love Boat”
A stolen rockets case that takes the team ton a cruise ship? Yes, please! What a mash up of ideas here. I loved it! It was also quite adorable watching Toby and Happy help Ralph with his first crush, during Valentine’s Day of all days. Great episode! Dangerous. Fun. Exciting! Looking forward to next week.
Castle (ABC) – Episode 7.14 “Resurrection”
Castle and Beckett came face to face with an old rival, Dr. Kelly Nieman and boy oh boy oh boy if this isn’t my favorite episode of the season so far, I don’t know what is!!! I love when this show shies away from the episodic and becomes more serial and we get really intricate, complex stories that they take more time to build. It’s always so worth it and this is no exception. I loved it! Knowing that Castle and Beckett and the entire team knew what Nieman was up to and not being able to nail her down…now with Beckett kidnapped! Ahh! What an incredibly intense episode. I can’t wait for part two of this story!
Face Off (Syfy) – Episode 8.05 “Sounding Off”
Check out my review here. This week delivered my favorite spotlight challenge of probably the entire season and a challenge that’s definitely in my top ten favorite challenges of the entire series.

Switched at Birth (ABC Family) – Episode 4.06 “Black and Gray”
Wow, I really love the direction the writers are going with the Bay storyline. This week was absolutely fantastic. There’s really not a whole lot that I can say at this point, the episode said it all, leaving me rather speechless. Bravo cast and crew. You nailed this episode. Bravo.
New Girl (Fox) – Episode 4.15 “The Crawl”
Jess’s British accent? Ha! So it’s Valentine’s Day on this week’s episode of New Girl. Nick is excited about going on a bar crawl aka bar hopping. Jess is determined to go on her date with Ryan instead, Schmidt is determined to leave the political party he’s at with his Valentine, Coach meets a girl (played by Being Human‘s Meaghan Rath) and Winston is the designated friend for the evening. All of this brought for a very entertaining episode. Nick writing The Walking Dead fan fiction? I don’t know about you but I want to read that ASAP.
Anyway, interesting development with Jess’s relationship there. Do you think this is the end or will long distance work for her? And Nick, oh man. I wasn’t expecting that towards the end of the bar crawl. Him thinking that he had nothing significant to do compared to all of the others. This makes me all the more interested in seeing what his next step will be. What do you think it could be? Great episode!
The Mindy Project – Episode 3.15 “Dinner at the Castellanos”
“Oh don’t step to me, I just murdered a bunch of eels tonight!” – Mindy
I loved this episode! I loved that last week ended with Mindy finding out that she was pregnant and this week’s entire episode led up to Danny finding out. The execution of this was beautiful. (And I’m sure Mindy Kaling is freaking out over have gotten a Beyonce song to play during the final scene!)
30 pregnancy tests! A popsicle stick too! Ha! The “Hey, Daddy” greeting! The crying baby. Oh my God, that was one of my favorite cold opens of the season. SO GOOD. As for the rest of the episode? It was great seeing Dan Hedaya and Madison Moellers guest star as Danny’s dad and little sister, the latter I barely recognized! (Btw, if you haven’t seen my interview with Madison from when she was on Shameless, you can read it here.)
I also loved the family dinner that Mindy inserted herself in, knowing what she knew that Danny didn’t. I loved everything about this episode. Go writing team and cast! This was wonderful. Probably one of my favorite episodes this season and definitely a huge highlight/milestone for the series. I am so excited for next week!
Cougar Town (TBS) – Episode 6.06 “The Wrong Thing to Do”
“It’s called pampering and guys can do it too.” – Grayson
Ellie enlisting Jules’s help in getting Andy to go back into the workforce was funnier than I thought it could be initially. I didn’t care for Ellie hijacking Bobby’s boat which Grayson had already claimed. It’s hit or miss with Ellie. Sometimes I enjoy her sickening personality. Other times she drives me crazy. In this instance, she drove me crazy. But I loved that she agreed to go back to work while Andy became a stay at home dad. I don’t know that I was expecting that from Ellie so it’s good to see that she’s still full of surprises.
“Bingo! Dr. Tom making his rounds.” – Tom
Meanwhile, Laurie and Travis were mesmerized with Tom after seeing another side of him. This quickly turned into a nightmare after Laurie encouraged him to embrace the Dr. McDreamy side of him. Ha. Laurie created quite a monster and there wasn’t exactly a resolution to this storyline so maybe it will continue into next week? Only time will tell!

Arrow (The CW) – Episode 3.13 “Canaries”
What a great episode! I wasn’t expecting so much to come to a head this week so it was really exciting to see so, so much unfold. Laurel finally told her dad that Sara is dead. She also finally came to terms with the fact that she will never be Sara but she can still be a hero in her own way. Thea finally found out about Oliver being the vigilante. Thea also found out that her latest love interest is actually the enemy. There was a lot that went down this week and I loved how it all played out. It has me itching to find out what the writers have up their sleeves for the second half of the season because we’ve still got a ways to go until the end and already major bombshells are dropping left and right to unify our favorite characters for what’s ahead and more. Fantastic episode!
The 100 (The CW) – Episode 2.12 “Rubicon”
Mt. Weather planning a missile attack? Whoa! Do you think Clarke made the right choice not informing the people about the bomb and letting them die? What do you think about Jaha leading a dozen to an aimless place? I love the storyline. It reminds me of Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi (which I loved) so I’m looking forward to see where The 100 writers take this storyline. The best part about this week was the breakout at Mt. Weather! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! That was certainly worth waiting for, worth fighting for. So happy they are making their escape! What a great episode! I am so pumped to see what’s in store for next week.
The Middle (ABC) – Episode 6.13 “Valentine’s Day VI”
What an episode! This was awesome! I loved how the writers did the unexpected with Axl who nailed Valentine’s Day. Axl is very thoughtful when he wants to be but I didn’t expect him to go all out like he did. That was petty wonderful to see. Then there’s Sue. We went on a bit of a roller-coaster with her storyline but for it to end with her being proposed to…didn’t see that coming at all! I’m torn between how sweet that is and how much of a cliche it is but Sue likes cliches and even still, it was awfully surprising for the proposal to come now when she’s still in school so I think it was a fitting mashup of emotions. Meanwhile, Brick not knowing when to stop kissing brought the laughs. Ha! Great episode. Absolutely great.
Modern Family (ABC) – Episode 6.14 “Valentine’s Day 4: Twisted Sister”
Well, this week was a bit of a miss for me, especially since The Middle and Black-ish knocked it out of the park this week with their Valentine’s Day episodes. Looking back, there’s nothing really memorable that stood out about this episode but I think this show has enough awesome holiday episodes in the bag so a miss here really isn’t all that bad. What did you think of this week?
BLACK-ISH (ABC) – Episode 1.13 “Big Night, Big Fight”
While the Diane storyline was somewhat entertaining, this week was all about Rainbow and Dre and I absolutely loved how it all played out. Seeing how some of their Valentine’s Days went and seeing how this one turned out was quite hilarious, especially seeing the mens meetup in the bathroom! Ha! That was easily my favorite part of this episode. So funny. This whole storyline gets an A+ in my book. Loved it!

The Vampire Diaries (The CW) – Episode 6.14 “Stay”
“I didn’t get to say goodbye. I didn’t get to say goodbye to my mom.” – Caroline
Wow. What an emotional kicker this week. We said goodbye to not one but two of favorite longtime characters. Sheriff and Jeremy. Caroline broke my heart when she rushed into the hospital and the don’t let go bike riding memory and oh. Oh, man.
And Jeremy. For some reason, that didn’t hurt as much even though Steven R. McQueen has officially left the show. It didn’t feel real for a few reasons. Only one person sent him off. The reasoning didn’t seem all that significant in an urgent way where he needed to leave at that moment, before Bonnie came back. And of course because it was left so wide open. It seems he’s very open to returning (just as many who have left the show have come back for a few episodes) given what Jeremy said to Alaric about contacting him if Bonnie comes back. I’m wondering how soon that will be. I wonder if this is is official goodbye contract wise but we’ll get a more definite goodbye after Bonnie comes back? Unless it’s announced before the season is over that Kat isn’t returning next season. What do you think?
Mourning aside, we did get something pretty amazing tonight. A kiss between Caroline and Stefan! Yes yes yes!!! Finally! Oh my God, you have no idea how happy that made me. I’ve been secretly pulling for them for a long time, as long as the show has been writing them as magnets that would eventually touch so I am so happy that this has finally happened! I’m not really vocal about relationships but this is one I am so, so, so happy to see! Yes. More of this please!!!
The Blacklist (NBC) – Episode 2.11 “Ruslan Denisov”
This episode was more intriguing than I expected as I haven’t loved this season as a whole more than the first season, episodes are hit or miss lately but this week held my attention all of the way through. Especially since Elizabeth is in deep trouble. Why oh why didn’t she give out a fake business card just in case something went wrong? I know she had no reason to go through all of that trouble but has she learned nothing from Red about being covert? It’s only a matter of time before the Ryan debacle blows up in her face. What do you think?
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) – Episode 11.11 “All I Could Do Was Cry”
What a great episode. I was really torn apart by April and Avery this season and am left speechless. All I can say right now is that I am so appreciative of this show for telling this story, telling this story for so many people who have lived this, bringing this reality to the forefront. Thank you, cast and crew.

Scandal (ABC) – Episode 4.12 “Full Circle”
Well. As expected. Another absolutely phenomenal episode. Phenomenal. First, we see Huck and Quinn shutting out Abby when she asked about Olivia! Wow! Huck was right to do it but ouch, that still hurt. Abby being the last to know about Olivia… oh, man. That monologue really got me. Abby’s best friend…her only friend. Oh, Abby! I got the feels for sure. Then they enlist the help of Olivia’s terrorist mommy who comes to the rescue (not without making a deal though, ha! Love her resourcefulness to help her loneliness). Love the execution of this. Everything about this episode was fantastic. Fantastic, I say!
Jake was cute thinking that Huck needed his help getting rid of the guys they needed to get rid of to make progress in getting into the auction. Huck did get a little happy on his killing spree and by a little I mean a lot! Whoa. All of that for nothing since Olivia was sold to Iran! Wow. What an episode! Who do you think bought Olivia? Her dad? Or is that too easy a guess? Someone new? Someone familiar?
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (ABC)
Episode 1.12 “She’s a Murderer”
Sam’s sister ordering the police to search Annalise’s house! Whoa. I’m not surprised but it did make me concerned that all of the evidence wasn’t erased. But Annalise did what she needed to do and cleaned it all up! They didn’t find a single piece of evidence! Wow! She’s good. How to get away with murder is right! But they found fibers on the body from the carpet. So. Not good. AND now Bonnie has confronted Annalise telling her that she knows! Ahhh!!!! What a wild conclusion this week. What will Annalise do now???? Oh, she’s putting all of the blame on Nate! WOW. Wow wow wow wow wow. Finally, loved the Cherry Hill, NJ reference! Since I live 15 minutes away from there. Also, it’s great to see April Parker-Jones on the show who I loved on Jericho! Can’t wait until next week, the final episode before the two hour finale! We get to see Annalise’s mom! Can’t wait to see that dynamic!
Glee (Fox) – Episode 6.07 “Transitioning”
This week started off on the right track which made me so, so happy. First, there was the return of Jayma Mays as Emma! Yes, yes, yes! Then, there was a great first musical Macklemore number. Really, all of the musical numbers were amazing this week. “All About That Base,” “Somebody Loves You,” “Time After Time,” and “I Know Where I’ve Been” to be specific! What a great arrangement to “All About That Base” by the way! And then there are the stories…
Sue telling Beiste that she’s there for him and that the school is gender-fluid made me so happy! Way to go, Sue! She continues to surprise me with her tolerance. I love that she tolerates what matters and doesn’t tolerate what doesn’t matter at all. The latter makes for quite the comedic moments. Anyway, it was great to see Sue and Will come together to stand up for Beiste after Will’s Vocal Adrenaline kid vandalized Beiste’s car. And Will finally accepting the fact that he’s not happy or fulfilled at his job and quitting. Good for him! Yay for him coming back to the glee club. For coming home and embracing where he’s meant to be. That ending sure was sweet.
Meanwhile, Rachel’s home is being sold and the gleeks help her with this new transition with a musical wheel of future for her farewell party. I loved Kurt moving the wheel one name over so that he could sing with Blaine! And Blaine later making the big move and kissing Kurt! Yes! Kurt and Blaine are back!!! Woo hoo!!! I mean, they’re not back together yet but this is the first big step to that. So happy! Also, what do you think about Rachel and Sam getting together? There are only five episodes left! I can’t wait to see what’s to come as the series comes to an end. Wonderful episode this week, I really enjoyed it!
