Check out last week’s review here.

This week started with host, McKenzie Westmore telling the artists about a relay race for a makeup challenge. Each artist in teams of three had 20 minute turns to create their design with no communication within their team but with one added prosthetic along the way. The inspiration? Claws. Actress and TV Personality, Jill Wagner (Teen Wolf, Wipeout) was the guest judge for the makeup challenge.

The teams? Orange was Ben, Darla, and Emily. Purple was Anthony, Julian, and Regina. Green was Logan, Stephanie, and Jamie. Blue was Kelly, Adam, and Rob. I’m just going to say it. THIS WAS THE MOST FUN AND NERVE WRECKING MAKEUP CHALLENGE PROBABLY EVER TO WATCH. Oh my gosh! Whoever came up with this idea, gold star! As for the end result? My favorite was Team Blue and Adam from this team won immunity. My second favorite was Team Orange. Everyone did great though!

Before the spotlight challenge, Rayce came by to hand off this week’s mentor responsibilities to RJ while Rayce went away to work on a client. Then, the artists went to Fox Studios to find out what their challenge was… They had to create a character inspired by a unique sound effect. The guest judge this week was five-time Oscar-nominated Sound Designer, Erik Aadahl (Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, Argo, World War Z, I-Robot, Monsters vs. Aliens, Godzilla) who created original sounds just for this challenge. That is wild.

The teams were Anthony and Darla, Logan and Rob, Jamie and Emily, Adam and Regina, Kelly and Stephanie, & Ben and Julian. Ben and Julian seemed to have the most trouble coming up with a concept and design but eventually, they got it. Then there’s Adam and Regina. Adam wanted to go with a robot design. Regina was going back and forth between 1) not being a fan of doing the obvious and 2) being intimidated by what she thought she couldn’t do.

I loved that the sound effects played with the creations on stage as the final looks were revealed to the judges! Stephanie and Kelly’s creation was by far my absolute favorite. Stunning. Dynamite! Wow. Wow. Wow. I need these two to be hired on a Tim Burton project asap. They were the top look, as expected! Congrats, ladies! The winner of the challenge was Stephanie, congrats!

Julian and Ben’s sound and creation was truly amazing. It was perfect. Wow. The creation was terrifying! I could totally see it on screen (and in my nightmares haha). Logan and Rob’s creation matched their sound perfectly as well! Jamie and Emily’s creation was beautiful! Something I’d expect to see in an adaptation of one of DJ MacHales Pendragon books. Anthony and Darla’s creation was great with a few flaws and I didn’t think it matched the sound as well as it could have but it still wasn’t terrible. But Anthony and Darla were a bottom look with Adam and Regina.

But let’s talk about Adam and Regina whose look I did not love or like. Really, let’s talk about Regina. I think Regina needs to get more comfortable with taking chances, with believing in other people’s visions, being more of a team player, and being more confident in her abilities as well as learning on the cuff. All of these attributed towards her attitude going into each and every spotlight challenge so far and I don’t want to see that. There were no bottom two looks for me, Adam and Regina was the bottom look and Regina was the only one who needed to be eliminated so I’m glad it turned out that way. Regina is talented. Very. But she has an awful lot of growing to do. Best of luck to Regina!
