So. If for whatever reason you don’t know…I am a HUGE Britney Spears fan. But my only two personal experiences with her are 1) Seeing her in the nosebleed seats at Z100’s Zootopia in I want to say 2003 when she co-hosted the concert and 2) Seeing the back of her when she was performing at a Christmas Tree Lighting in Downtown LA a few years ago. That’s it. I’ve always wanted to see her in concert and finally!!!!!!! As a birthday gift from my family, I got to see Britney’s show in Las Vegas!!!!!
Last Tuesday, my older sister, Kira and I went to Las Vegas and saw the sights. In one of the hotels on the strip, the conservatory was dedicated towards Chinese New Year. The conservatory is often dedicated towards many things so depending on when you visit or moreso how often you visit, there will most likely be something different each time. Then, on Wednesday, it was the big day!!! We got in the general admission line around 4pm and there were already six people in front of us. From Italy, Brazil, and France. Even the people behind us were from out of the country. People are coming from all around the world to see Britney! YAAASSS. Britney fans FTW!!! That makes me so happy! Shout out to my new Brazilian friend, Pedro! You rock!
Anyway, while waiting in line, I took a quick trip to the Britney store and got myself a t-shirt and keychain. If you plan on buying anything from the Britney store, make sure you set aside more than you think. The t-shirt that I bought was $40. It was worth it, of course. So just make sure you put aside a little extra.
Doors opened at 7:30pm. This meant that we got our wristbands, went through security, and walked inside as general admission left went left while general admission right went right. We were left so we walked that way and were all told to get into a single file line as our holding area for the next half hour. While waiting, I watched the TV screen that was on mute but showed behind the scenes footage of Britney shooting the Oops!… I Did It Again music video. It was really extended cuts of one scene but it was still exciting. At 8pm, we were let inside the pit and for the first half hour, the screens showed photos of fans who tweeted out pictures of them at the show with the hashtag #PieceOfMe and for the second half hour, a countdown began!
I didn’t know it at the time but Melissa Joan Hart (Melissa & Joey, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) was there at the show and that is just all kinds of Drive Me Crazy cool. I wasn’t too bummed that I didn’t see her because I already have, when I saw a taping of Melissa & Joey a few years ago.
As for the show? I had the time of my life! I was right up against the barricade and frankly had the best spot in the whole place. I am so happy that I was able to see her in Vegas because I thought I wasn’t going to be able to before her residency ended but then it was recently announced that it was extended to 2017. I was actually really shocked that she extended the residency, especially for as long as she did. If she’s happy with that decision, I’m happy for her. Keep rocking out, girl!
I am so excited that I got to cross this off my bucket list because it was one that I really wanted to cross off. Anyway, the show was amazing! Yes, she lip syncs but when you go to a Britney Spears concert, you know what you’re getting yourself into and you’ve accepted that. I loved the set list. I loved the sets. The dancers were amazing. Britney put on a great show and I am so grateful that I got to go! Until next time!!! (Hey, a girl can dream!)
