Final three. Dina Cimarusti. Cig Neutron. Drew Talbot.
The final challenge? Create a pair of knights, representing life and death, both of which will have to “battle” it out on stage. The life knight needed to have a heroic backstory and the death knight needed a villainous backstory. I absolutely loved all of the backstories for all of the final looks. These guys are so creative. Everyone really has been for their backstories this season.
Returning for the finale were three artists from this season that each finale artist got to pick to help them and three former Face Off champions that were randomly placed with each finale artist. Cig chose Sasha and was paired with Season 6 winner, Rashad. Drew chose George and was paired with Season 2 winner, Rayce. Dina got Stella and Season 3 winner, Nicole.
The final three and their teams had four days to complete the final challenge and I loved seeing Dina have her hands in both of her knights rather than letting her two team members have complete control over an aspect. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just a control and pride thing that I totally get and wouldn’t have any other way, especially seeing that she won!
I loved Cig’s death and Dina’s death knight buts I thought Drew’s life and death knights were both fantastic. I was actually expecting Drew to win but I’ve wanted Dina to win all season long (in case you’ve been living under a rock) so of course I was thrilled to see her win! Clearly, the judges took into account more than just the finale pieces as they mentioned each finale artists’ strengths and consistencies throughout the show, so it’s no mistake that Dina won and I cannot wait to see what jobs she gets especially of all of this season’s artists. What a fabulous season!
I am so excited for season 8 which has been deemed the “Return of the Champions.” In a twist on the show’s traditional format, three former champions, Rayce Bird (Season 2), Anthony Kosar (Season 4) and Laura Tyler (Season 5), will return in the premiere and select teams of five new artists who they will coach throughout the season. Can’t wait!
