19 Kids & Counting (TLC)
Episodes 14.02-14.03 “Duggar Daughter Dates” & “Duggar-Sized Wedding Planning”
This week, we got two half hour episodes of the Duggars and without a doubt, my favorite part was watching Jill and Derick scout places for their wedding, most notably the very church that Jill’s parents went to and got married in. Talk about a full circle moment for Michelle and Jim Bob! What an exciting time this was for the Duggars. So happy that they continue to share with us what’s happening in their lives! I don’t mean to sound cheesy but it really is a joy watching them.
UTOPIA (Fox) – Episode 1.01
As I said on Twitter…thirteen minutes into Utopia and it became clear that this show was immediately coming off of my watch list. The idea of this show is great but the amount of negativity that is already sprouting from some of the people chosen to execute the idea… in episode one… and this show airs three times a week for one year… I have no time for all that negativity. Nope.

Haven (Syfy) – Episode 5.01 “See No Evil”
Wow. Maura. With Maura here, I think this season is going to be my favorite yet. Emily Rose is killing it as Maura! I love her attitude! I love her ruthlessness. She shot a local point blank as soon as he said something that posed a threat for her. She’s conniving. She’s manipulative. She’s everything that makes the villain that is Maura fan-freaking-tastic. I am so on board for Maura and I have no idea if I’m even spelling her name right but let’s just go with Maura and let’s countdown until we get to see her again, spreading more trouble across town!
The Biggest Loser (NBC) – Episode 16.01 “Opening Day”
Well. It seems The Biggest Loser is back to its old tricks and by old tricks, I mean voting people off and letting drama ensue. My least favorite part about this show. This show doesn’t need drama. The contestants have enough drama individually, that’s what brought them to this low point in their lives in the first place. It’s not entertaining seeing the voting, it’s cheap is what it is. I really hope the voting doesn’t last all season long. All of the contestants are former athletes (Olympic medals and all) and are all about competition but that athlete in them is enough. The voting is unnecessary.
Anyway, we welcomed two new trainers this season, Jen and Jessie. I don’t like that Jen at first glance looks so much like Jillian. I’m sure casting did that on purpose and for that, I don’t like it. Regardless, Jen seems awesome and I am excited to see what she accomplishes with her group of contestants.
I also don’t like that the contestants are in competitive groups again but at the same time, it really is important to connect and click with your trainer so having the contestants choose their trainer was important to me so I’m glad it worked out the way that it did.
This season, the producers were smart enough to cast all athletes, athletes who know enough about nutrition and such not to go overboard like last year’s winner but even with all of the good that this show does, it still went back to the drama, which both Jillian (my favorite trainer!) and Bob have made it a point to say outside of the show they don’t like. It’s why Jillian isn’t part of the show now and probably why Bob’s presence has lessened this season. I don’t mind new trainers but when we’re talking about ratings, how long will the majority of the viewers stick with this show if the trainers they love all leave? I think this show is losing its life and trying to do anything to save it. The smart thing would be to have a heart but you know the suits wouldn’t have that! So. This will probably be the last season of Loser that I’ll be watching. As much good as I saw in the premiere, it still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Z NATION (Syfy) – Episode 1.01 “Puppies and Kittens”
I knew that I would enjoy Z Nation. After all, it’s on Syfy but I didn’t know that I’d enjoy the show as much as I did, which was a lot more than I anticipated. I love that this is just a fun show to watch. There is the sense of urgency as the zombies are super fast (which I don’t like in general, zombies being really fast) and the ways that the survivors kill the zombies is pretty awesome. There are moral dilemmas thrown in (saving a baby and then deciding if they should kill it when it becomes a zombie) but for the most part, it’s just a fun zombie ride we’re all on when watching. I can’t say that I’m a fan of how the people turn into zombies but whatevs. If you’re looking for mindless entertainment, here you go. I typically watch the first season of every Syfy show before I decide to commit for the long haul (I usually commit) so I’m looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this season. That said, this show does come on at ten o’clock on a Friday night, so I’m setting this show up for the DVR because this is not exactly must see TV so I won’t feel too bad if I miss it live.
