Can you believe we’re already in season four?! Well, I can and based on the premiere and the laughs and ratings it deserves and most certainly will get, this show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In “The Last Wedding,” the gang makes a pact to get lucky at the twelfth and final wedding of the summer and yes, this is just as entertaining as it sounds from this group of crazy kids. Jess competing with guest star, Jessica Biel’s scientist character to get together with the best man played by guest star Reid Scott brought for some pretty awkward comedic moments. But that wasn’t even the best part.
Schmidt and Nick get an offer that one of them is all about and the other is very concerned about. As he should be. I don’t want to spoil this for you so I’ll just say that I’m so glad they consulted Winston and Nick went with his gut and dashed because the dynamic between the two would have been way too bizarre afterwords had they taken up on the offer that was proposed to them! Plus, there are better ways to distract Schmidt from Cece! But wait, it gets even better!
Perhaps my favorite person to watch at the wedding reception was…shockingly…Coach. Coach was having a hard time finding someone at the reception that he hadn’t already slept with. Seeing him get confronted felt so good! Good for those women telling Coach about himself! Coach, and Schmidt and Nick aren’t alone. Winston knows he’s not getting lucky that night only he’s perfectly okay with that, what with being completely sore and worn out due to police academy training. Boy, I cannot wait to see more of Winston, the police offer in training this season. Who else is as psyched as I am for this? This storyline alone could make for an awesome spin off comedy. Anyway, back to the premiere…
The premiere is awesome! Season four starts off strong! I can’t believe they are getting away with this stuff. I mean… I’ll only say the half of it. It involves a fist. Wow. Also, I loved the Game of Thrones reference! Always love the physical comedy, in fact it’s one of my favorite aspects of the show. And the fridge moment at the end? Nick taking it too far. You’ll see what I’m talking about when the show returns tomorrow night but it’s absolutely perfect!
This show will make you laugh until you ache and then laugh some more when you can catch your breath. It not only goes there but it goes beyond. I’ve always loved that about this show, how bold and fearless and fun the writers are and how crazy talented the actors are for executing what’s been written so well. New Girl is hysterical and just as strong as it was in season one. Here’s to a hilarious premiere and many more episodes in its future!
