Last week on Face Off, host, McKenzie Westmore brought the contestants to Sony Pictures Studio to tell the artists about their latest spotlight challenge which celebrated the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz. The contestants had to bring some of the iconic book characters to life as though they’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and into Alice in Wonderland. A whimsical mashup! What! Talk about the most imaginative challenge yet!
The character that George & Drew had to transform? The wicked witch of the west. Dina & Stella got the winged monkey. Cig & Damien got the scarecrow. Rachael & Keaghlan got the tin woodman! And finally, Sasha & Jason got the cowardly lion.
During this challenge, Sasha finds herself in a similar situation as last time where her partner is not quite focusing on what’s expected from them for the challenge. Once again, Michael Westmore, checking in, notices that this team is off course. Sasha knew this would happen. She knew what to do from the beginning but was shut down by Jason and doesn’t like confrontation…so…at this point, it was clear that this team would make bottom looks because they are not on one accord. Thankfully, the judges saw that Sasha had a vision but drowned in Jason’s and Jason was eliminated this week. It’s a shame we couldn’t see what Sasha had in mind for this challenge but hopefully she’ll knock the next challenge out of the park and we can move past this.
The best mash up hands down goes to Dina & Stella. It’s no surprise they came out as the top team. Congrats Dina on being the winner of this challenge! No surprise there. We know she’s a favorite of mine so I expected nothing less. I also loved the feel for Cig & Damien’s design but as judge, Lois Burwell said, it was too busy. I really enjoyed Drew & George’s design but I was highly anticipating what they would take from Alice in Wonderland so I was a bit disappointed when it appeared to be all bout The Wizard of Oz. Also worth noting, I really loved Rachael & Keaghlan’s design! Overall, this week was fantastic. Probably the most fun challenge to watch come to life so far this season. I can’t wait to see what the contestants deliver next!
