Set and shot in London, the suspenseful event series once again will follow the exploits of heroic Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), as he attempts to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever. Retaining the real-time, nail-biting, fast-paced format with split screens and interweaving storylines, the highly-anticipated series also stars Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane reprising their original roles. Newcomers to the series include Yvonne Strahovski, Benjamin Bratt, Tate Donovan, Giles Matthey, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Michael Wincott.

24 returns tonight as part of a “12 hour event” instead of a 24 episode season. It’s been four years since 24 was on the air. I didn’t watch 24 when it aired but I still remember hearing everybody talking about it. And I mean everybody. People who didn’t even watch TV were watching 24 and talking about it at work, at the supermarket, everywhere. It wasn’t until around the time that the show ended that I decided to start watching on Netflix. That’s when I got it. That’s when I became so enraged that I hadn’t watched with everyone else, to have someone to talk to and fangirl over each episode. I will always say that season one of 24 is some of the best television in TV history. And so many of the cast members are back to create some more of the most thrilling, engaging TV show ever.

In the first hour of the two hour premiere, which takes place between 11:06am and 12pm, Jack Bauer is caught by the CIA in London. They want answers as to why Jack, a “traitor” to his country, is in London – at the same time as the President of the United States. Jack wants something to. You’ll have to tune in to find out what but if you’ve seen a recent promo, you can guess who he’s there for.

Meanwhile, inside of the London CIA station, Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) is on her way out of the office for good, having been let go after…well, you’ll have to tune in to find out why. Only before handing in her keys, she follows Jack’s capture and notices something a little off. Thus begins the “I know what’s about to happen so I’m going to warn everyone but nobody is going to listen to me until it’s too late” story. The episode begins with a red herring and I’m sure that’s just the beginning but there’s one woman who knows how to think a step ahead and that’s Kate and something tells me it’s going to be a blast following her. And no, I’m not just saying that because I’m so excited that Strahovski, who I absolutely loved on NBC’s Chuck, is now on 24. There are quite a few new faces for this mini season, one of which is Tate Donovan who I’m also really excited to see on here. Something tells me over time his character will mean well but will get into some messy situations. Only time will tell.

Everyone’s got motives. They become clearer in in hour two, which takes place between 12pm and 1pm and I’m sure will even more over time. One of my favorite aspects about 24? The complex webs of everyone’s goals and motives and the writers are just as sharp and mysterious as they were before. It’s as if no time has passed at all for the returning cast and crew of 24. That said, the premiere is exciting, fast paced as expected, with an explosion, gun fire, mystery, deception, and everything we anticipate in episodes of 24 but it’s a tease. A big fat, “You ain’t seen nothing yet.” Whether you’ve watched 24 before or not, tonight’s the night to grab some popcorn and turn to Fox!
