It’s Upfronts Week! If you missed my thoughts on the recent cancellations and new series orders from NBC and Fox, click here for NBC and here for Fox.
Thoughts On Cancelled Series:
I am beyond disappointed that Super Fun Night was cancelled. That was my favorite new ABC comedy. I will forever love and miss that show. Suburgatory and Trophy Wife were two shows that were always hysterical when I watched them but I didn’t make it a point to watch every week…and I’m sure I’m not the only one who enjoyed these shows but just didn’t tune in regularly. You know what happens when enough people do that or simply don’t watch at all? The shows get canned. I am part of the problem haha so sorry about that everyone who loved those shows. That said, is there anyone out there who had a similiar viewing pattern with Lucy 7? Or no? Because my understanding is that no one was watching. I think I’m the only one who watched and enjoyed that show. Finally, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was atrocious so this cancellation was a blessing. Just stick with Once Upon a Time, folks. And those are my thoughts on the cancellations worth mentioning.
Thoughts On New Series:
HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER looks fantastic and I’m sure the Pilot is and the show will be. Shonda Rhimes behind this? Viola Davis starring in it? I’m in. As for the comedy I’m most anticipating? SELFIE. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t give this show the time of day if Karen Gillan and John Cho weren’t attached.
It’s great to see more diverse shows coming this fall, including BLACK-ISH and CRISTELA. I am really looking forward to BLACK-ISH. What a cast! And it looks funny. I actually laughed out loud a few times. Seems like a winner. CRISTELA also looks entertaining though I’m pretty sure I won’t be watching every week and will instead be a casual viewer.
Finally… FOREVER seems like it would be a better movie than TV series. I’ll watch the Pilot, as I always watch all of the Pilots but I honestly don’t see myself tuning into this show. We’ll see! MANHATTAN LOVE STORY looks funny but isn’t for me. Where I’ll give FOREVER a chance, I can’t say I’ll give MANHATTAN LOVE STORY the same.
