Banned Books Week Is Here!

It’s Banned Books Week!

Of the banned and challenged classics (see here), my favorite is easily To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I remember reading it for the first time, second, third, and so on. I remember each and every time. This book holds such a special place in my heart for so many reasons. If you haven’t read this book for some reason by now, make it a point to as soon as possible.

Of the most frequently challenged authors of the 21st century, I hope you’ve all read the works of Suzanne Collins, Ellen Hopkins, Stephen Chbhosky, J.K. Rowling, and Roald Dahl. I am currently reading my first book by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy) and I’m looking forward to reading more from her.

I’ve actually only read 15 of the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books: 2000-2009 with about 20 others on my TBR list and 14 of the 100 most frequently challenged books: 1990–1999 with the same, about 20 others on this list on my TBR list. Don’t even get me started on how many of the Frequently challenged books of the 21st century books I still need to read.

I am really slacking! I think after I finish my kindle reading challenge, I will devote more time to reading banned/challenged books and countdown to next year’s Banned Books Week. Until then, I am really looking forward to reading the recently challenged, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell which Brad has been urging me to read for months! I’ll get to that in a week or so! Also, more John Green. I am making it my mission to read the rest of his body of work this year and have his catalogue under my belt. How about you?

What banned books are you going to read this fall?
