Seat belts everyone! Sparks of discovery fly with this 3-DVD set containing over five hours of the Emmy Award-winning animated science-adventure series based on the bestselling books.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Magic School Bus, Scholastic Media has re-launched the complete Emmy Award winning series (52 episodes) to DVD, featuring all new packaging and never-before-released content. New to the line are two special 3-pack configurations, THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS: BLAST OFF! FROM SEA TO SPACE and THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS: FIELD TRIP FUN AND GAMES, featuring 12 episodes, some releasing for the first time. I had the pleasure of receiving the latter and was taken back to my childhood as soon as the first episode began.

The Magic School Bus: Field Trip Fun & Games features episodes focusing on topics ranging from dinosaurs and archaeology to bugs and butterflies. It’s the elementary school experience you’ve always wanted! Experience school trips, picnics, show and tell, and science fairs like you never will be able to in real life with Ms. Frizzle. I wish my teacher had a tardis, uh, I mean magic school bus and took me back in time to study dinosaurs when I was little. Even without that actual experience, this is the next best thing and every episode reminds me why I was actually intrigued with some topics that I normally wasn’t interested in at that age. When teaching, it’s all about the presentation. Every student learns differently and Ms. Frizzle takes that to heart and is passionate about making sure that every student has a learning experience that will stay with them forever. That’s not easy to do! The writers of this show get it and provided for one of the best learning tools ever with this show!

Looking back, I only remembered three of these episodes so it was a sweet walk down memory lane but also fun to view as an adult and appreciate even more just how well crafted this show was. Is The Magic School Bus still on television today because it needs to be. What a fantastic show that all ages can learn from and be entertained by. The Magic School Bus is timeless! While the set doesn’t look to be re-mastered, and the sound doesn’t seem to be very balanced (for surround sound), this set is still worth picking up, so be sure to get your copy today!
