The stakes have never been higher in this all-new season of Leverage, the thrilling crime drama that puts you at the heart of the action. Timothy Hutton returns as Nate Ford, now more determined than ever to fight injustice with the help of his elite team of crack con artists. Season Four pits them against formidable foes as they tackle their most challenging missions yet, including a harrowing journey to the rugged mountains of Alaska to help solve a disappearance – where one wrong step could be their last. And there are even more surprises in store, as the team makes an unnerving discovery… a culprit with a mysterious agenda has been spying on their activities.

You may remember the time when I decided to finally sit down to watch Leverage. I always knew that I would enjoy this show but until that point, I did not put any effort into catching it. I am so happy that I did finally sit down and find out what this show had to offer. What I thought was phenomenal then doesn’t even come close to what the cast and crew had up their sleeves for season four. If I had to pick a favorite season, four just might be it. A Clue like murder mystery, parody of The Office, carnival setting, funeral home setting, and more all in one season?

There really is a never ending list of ways that a person can get conned. Just when I wondered what could be done next, season four came along. Man, season four. The stakes were raised, relationships grew, and we saw pieces of characters that we have never seen before or were waiting to see fit in the puzzle. As a big fan of characters and character development, this was probably my favorite aspect of season four. Comparing seasons one – three to this season, it’s fascinating to realize how much more we know about this team. Sure, the cases of the week keep me on my toes but the relationships among this team is what keeps me coming back each week…

What has been planted throughout the first few seasons has finally been established so I cannot wait to see what the writers do for season five. Usually, season four sees the beginning of the downward spiral for a TV series but it is quite the opposite for Leverage. “Give me four more seasons!” is what you’ll be saying after you finish viewing this. If you haven’t seen the first three seasons, don’t worry. You can jump right in! I jumped into the middle of the show and had a few questions but it’s nothing you can’t figure out with context clues. Special Features:

Behind the Scenes (2 minutes) – This features takes viewers on location in Mt. Hood as the cast and crew shoots “The Long Way Down Job.” There’s really not depth to this feature, it’s more just various shots of the cast and crew in between shooting. No one is really going into depth about the positive and negative aspects about shooting in such a location, so the interest here is really low. Since it’s only two minutes, pass on this feature.

Writer’s Room Job (3 minutes) – The gang was letting loose this season. If you’re up for a good laugh, check out the writers giving fake pitches to executive producers, John Rogers and Chris Downey in the writer’s room. It’s really quite hysterical since in the first few minutes of every episode, I’m always thinking, “How did they come up with this job?” Granted, these pitches were jokes, but some of the best ideas may have coming from joking around. You never know!

The Office Job Parody (5 minutes) – This features takes place in Hollywood, CA at the Electric Factory headquarters as the staff takes a stab at acting when they “misplace” The Office Job master. My favorite part came at the end, the Twilight gag. Hysterical. I did laugh aloud. Overall, this a fun little feature but you’re not missing much if you miss out.

Deleted Scenes (Approx 5 minutes) – There are approximately a dozen deleted scenes from the episodes, “The Long Way Down,” “The Grave Danger Job,” “The Experimental Job,” “The Office Job,” “The Girls’ Night Out Job,” “The Last Dam Job.” I particularly enjoyed the scene in which Parker had a dance with someone that is not Hardison. Aside from this scene, I’d say this feature is a skip.

*Gag Reel (5 minutes)

Commentary – There is commentary for every single episode of season four. Jackpot. I’d say start off listening to your favorite episodes first and then work your way through the rest… but when you think about it, what episodes are not worthy of being a favorite? Watch all of the episodes with commentary, no matter how long it takes you to do it! You won’t regret it.
