Rest in Peace Whitney Houston

The home going service for Whitney Houston will begin and will air on television/online in about a forty five and it’s all really settling in for me right now. Whitney Houston was one of the first voices in music that I fell in love with. My second cassette tape was a Whitney Houston record and boy, did I play that out quick. I remember blasting Whitney as a child and dancing around the living room with not a care in the world. I have so much love for Whitney Houston, not just because of her voice but her love for Christ and zest for life despite her addiction which tried so hard to take all of that away. Her passing is devastating. It didn’t have to happen this way, this soon. And yet here were are saying goodbye to another legend. But today we celebrate the fight that she put up towards her addiction. She put up a good fight.

I really do not have the words to express how saddened I am by Whitney Houston’s passing. So I am not going to go down all of memory lane right now. I will let those memories come up as time goes on and for now say a prayer for her family, church family, friends, and colleagues. I also want to thank Whitney Houston simply for being “Whitney Houston” because without her, my generation of music may not have been the same (i.e. Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Hudson, etc…) And thank you for all of your charity work as well. That often gets overlooked for some reason. Just thank you for everything, Whitney. Your voice goes far beyond the music and today we celebrate all of that as we celebrate your going home to heaven. We love you Whitney!
