Out Of The Wild: Venezuela follows nine people who have left their lives behind to embark on a journey that will change their lives forever. They were flown in and stranded deep in the heart of the Southern frontier of Venezuela with one task: make it back to civilization alive. The only lifeline to the outside world is a GPS beacon attached to each individual. If they can’t handle life in the wilderness, they can push the button and summon a search and rescue helicopter. This is not a game. There is no prize at the end. No one is voted off. Their reward was the chance to have an experience that would change their lives forever.
In the premiere episodes, which covers the first three days of the adventure, the group takes quite the trek to their supplies, food, and shelter, which ultimately is improvised if the group does not reach their shelter before dark. Army Ranger, Nick and Park Ranger/Wildlife Artist, Tara among others try to lead the group given their individual strengths, but ultimately Nick decides that he’s not going to wait on anyone to get back to civilization. Hmmm. Then there’s Wildlife Technician, Michael who experiences a minor injury along the way but doesn’t give up on the trek just as Operations Manager, Carolina doesn’t when she nears hypothermia. There’s a lot to appreciate about the rest of the adventure seekers and nature which we will get to see in this eight-part series. Lost fans especially will enjoy this show just as much if not more than I am already. So make sure to tune in every Thursday night to watch this wild and unpredictable adventure unfold!
Out of the Wild: Venezuela airs Thursdays at 10/9c on Discovery.
