Variety and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation have announced the line up for the 2011 TV Summit!
This inaugural one-day conference will feature the TV industry’s top leaders and decision makers from key networks, cable/satellite/telco providers, the production and showrunner community, and founders of cutting-edge startups relevant to the business of television. 2011 TV Summit attendees will have the opportunity to join conversations with some of today’s dynamic television industry executives as they share their views on the direction of the medium, as it continues to adapt with new technology and social behavior that we see every day.
Some of the biggest names in television will address the audience, including Dante Di Loreto, Executive Producer, Glee; Michael Lombardo, President of Programming, HBO and Vice-Chair, Television Academy Foundation; David Madden, President, Fox TV Studios; Masi Oka, Actor, Heroes, Hawaii Five-0; Roberto Orci, Co-Creator and Producer, Fringe, Hawaii Five-0, Transformers Prime; Shonda Rhimes, Creator and Executive Producer, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice; KaDee Strickland, Actor, Private Practice; Michael Wright, EVP, Head of Programming, TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies; and Anthony E. Zuiker, Creator and Executive Producer, the CSI franchise.
“As traditional television revenue models change, this event will bring together industry leaders to discuss the challenges of change, but also the opportunities that are being created,” said Lombardo. “The Summit will bring together an all-star team of TV executives to explore what the future holds for our industry through various thought-provoking discussions. Our ‘TV with a Conscience’ panel, for example, addresses television’s role and obligation to bring provocative social issues to the forefront — from bullying to cancer prevention and rape crisis intervention.”
Other TV Summit topics include debating the significance of ratings; new revenue and programming delivery models; the art of re-branding channels; marketing to today’s fractured audiences; attracting audiences with community-building programming; and sorting through new TV technologies.
