Chuck star and Australia native, Yvonne Strahovski recently shot an ad for the new “Adopt, Don’t Buy” Peta campaign.

Every year, 6 to 8 million stray and abandoned animals enter animal shelters across the U.S. and about half of them must be euthanized because of a lack of good homes, as many people decide to buy pets that are either bred or from a pet store.

Not only that but animal shelters see a spike in homeless animals every year after the holidays as families find themselves unable to care for the puppies and kittens they purchased as gifts. Buying a pet can require a 20 year commitment, so the decision to take a cat, dog, etc… home should be carefully weighed, especially over the holiday season.

So if you do decide to bring a pet into your home this holiday season, make sure that you adopt!
