The Book of Mormon, a new musical from the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of South Park and composer/co-creator of the Tony Award winning musical, Avenue Q, will make the Eugene O’Neill Theatre their home starting on preview night, February 24, 2011! The musical is scheduled to open on Broadway exactly one month after previews and this interview below has gotten me very excited for its opening!
I was thrilled to find out that the musical stars Asmeret Ghebremichael who I enjoyed seeing Legally Blonde the Musical a few years back. The musical also stars Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Nikki M. James, Rory O’Malley, and Michael Potts with Scott Barnhardt, Justin Bohon, Darlesia Cearcy, Kevin Duda, Brian Tyree Henry, John Eric Parker, Jason Michael Snow, Benjamin Schrader, Michael James Scott, Brian Sears, Lawrence Stallings, Rema Webb, Maia Nkenge Wilson and Tommar Wilson.
Though a non-denominational Christian, I am really excited to see this musical! How about you?
The Book of Mormon features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. The world premiere production is choreographed by three-time Tony Award-nominee Casey Nicholaw (Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone) and directed by Nicholaw and Parker.
The Book of Mormon contains explicit language and runs for 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one 15 minute intermission. Tickets are on sale now for $59 – $137.
