Running Time: 1 hour 27 minutes

In THE OTHER WOMAN, directed by Jason Priestly (“90210”), Jill Plumley (Josie Bisset) is a successful news producer with a bright future who decides to forsake her career in favor of her new role: the devoted wife of her husband, David, a wealthy divorce lawyer. Then, at David’s company party, a sexy young student named Nicole boldly tells Jill that she’s going to steal her husband – a courageous yet ironic assertion, considering that four years earlier, Jill stole David away from his first wife. Now that Jill is “Mrs. David Plumley,” could young Nicole be the other woman whom Jill had been? When David’s boss is then killed in his sleep and the wife confesses to the murder but claims self-defense, an overwhelmed Jill turns to old friend and fellow journalist Pete Henderson (Priestley) to find out the truth.

Based on the best selling novel by Joy Fielding, The Other Woman is exactly what you would expect from a typical Lifetime movie. Though with Josie Bissett (Melrose Place, The Secret Life of the American Teenager) as the lead and Jason Priestley (Tru Calling, Beverly Hills 90210) starring and directing, it makes for a more pleasurable viewing. This drama is all too predictable, which unfortunately takes out the thrilling aspect. But its characters will captivate you. You’ll easily connect with the characters and will find yourself rooting for a few of them. The cast is strong and the characters are well developed. Emotions run high and that is what will keep viewers enthralled.

Aside from this, this story is nothing we haven’t seen before – A woman tries to save her marriage from a home wrecker not too long after she was the home wrecker herself. There was a side story that was not quite intertwined with the main plot, so it really just filled space. I think the idea was to bring in another element that would bring in more tension for Jill and her husband. So it achieved success in that regard. Otherwise, there was nothing quite interesting about it since there have been many typical Lifetime movies based on that subplot alone. Overall, this was a good movie. Timeless since the issue at hand will never go away. The ending was slightly incomplete but surprisingly still very satisfying. If you have time to kill, this is a slightly entertaining film to watch.
