Ramona Cash, Darling Clementine and Lindsay “Munchie” Morrison are back to pushing the limits and causing havoc wherever they go in the all new season of Mav TV‘s Rad Girls which premiere 2 weeks ago. The girls came back for Season 3 and are here to talk to Hollywood the Write Way about the past, present, and future of Rad Girls!
What can we expect for the upcoming season?
There will be lots of fun and exciting things. I think our 3rd season was in some ways our craziest season. It’s a continuation of our brand, a cross between pranks and stunts. There will be character based comedy. Also, we went to Pinks Hot Dogs and cut off someone in the line during the busiest time of the day. We got into a fake argument and people were flipping out. It was intense. We were happy to bring in some of our friends to support us, so that is a bit different from the last 2 seasons. In Season 3 we stayed in California. We filmed in San Diego, LA, Anaheim, and San Francisco.
Ramona, what was it like shooting in your hometown of San Diego?
It was awesome. I was hoping that I would run into people from high school since many of the things we were doing were borderline scandalous. I had a blast shooting down there, there was so much high energy.
Can we expect you three to film out of the country for Season 4?
Let’s hope so. We would love that if we have another season and have the budget. Taking the show to another country would be so amazing. So much of what we do is challenging social and cultural stereotypes. So to see how people react to us elsewhere would be a great experiment.
Where was your favorite place to shoot in the past 2 seasons and this upcoming season?
Our roots are in Santa Cruz so people are very cool and encouraging there. Each place brings its own refreshing culture and spin to it. We have so much support in Santa Cruz. The turnouts have been amazing, those who have seen our project grow. We really feel the love.
What’s it like in the writer’s room?
We eat a lot of candy! It’s very collaborative. A lot of our ideas start out as jokes. For instance, tampon tea party started out as a joke but we ended up doing the skit. A lot of the ideas are spontaneous though we do get many suggestions from family, friends, and fans. We’ve been really lucky.
Lindsay, how did you get the nickname, “Munchie?”
I grew up in the Philippines and in high school, me and my friend just started calling each other Munchie. So when we were started coming up with names for Rad Girls, Ramona said I should just use Munchie and I have had the nickname since I was about 14 years old so it seemed perfect.
What’s next for Rad Girl Productions?
It’s always been a surprising adventure for us. Everything has happened really organically. We are going on a tour in March in the South. We will be in Nashville, Atlanta, and end up at SXSW. We are merchandising as well. As far as other things, I wish I knew what would happen next…we’ll see!
