New Music I Want To Hear in 2010

In 2009, Hollywood the Write Way mainly focused on Television and Film and while that will continue, the aim for 2010 is TV, Film, and more Music! I love music and it’s odd looking back how little music was covered on this website…so right now I want to list 10 musical artists (aside from my obvious choice, Christina Aguilera) that I would like to hear new music from in 2010. Now I have no idea what is on each of their agendas, but it has been awhile since I’ve heard new music from these few and it’s killing me!

This list is in alphabetical order…

1. Aly & AJ are now known as 78violet and released Into The Rush in 2005 and Insomniatic in 2007. The girls may have their music promoted on The Disney Channel but don’t let that fool you. Their songwriting has depth, their harmonies are incredible, and too many people sleep on this talented duo.

2. Avril Lavigne is an extremely talented songwriter and it is quite interesting to say the least to see the changes in tone from Let Go to Under My Skin to The Best Damn Thing. It makes me anticipate even more what’s next for Avril as she finds the best way to put her thoughts to paper and then finds a way to create a new sound for each album, which is so refreshing. She’s been through an awful lot since her last album so it will interesting to see what she shares on the next album.

3. Brian Littrell is known for being a member of The Backstreet Boys but he also released a contemporary Christian album, Welcome Home in 2006 which I found to be quite pleasant. Although The Backstreet Boys have released 2 albums since 2007 and a lot has gone on in his personal life which have both taken away time for Brian to mainly focus on his next solo album…and as much as I like The Backstreet Boys, the 90s are done and it would be nice if BB can accept that as well and focus on solo careers. Welcome Home is an incredibly uplifting album that anyone can come to appreciate.

4. Hilary Duff has come so far since Lizzie McGuire! I remember when Hilary was promoting her debut album, Metamorphosis and I was so comfortable with her acting and so over actors trying to cross over into singing, that I was skeptical. However, Metamorphosis was one of my most played albums in 2003 and while her sophomore album (self titled) didn’t impress me, her 2007 album, Dignity, a dance electro-pop album is one of my favorite albums of 2007. Dignity takes Hilary’s songwriting and musical creativity to a whole new (much more mature and life experienced) level. Hilary is a talented actress with much in the works, but if she can knock out another Dignity inspired album, I’ll be first in line to buy!

5. JoJo is one of the most talented singers of my generation and it’s such a shame there were issues with her record label that caused her to not release any new music in the past 3 years. Thankfully, all of that is behind her and it seems as though a new album can be expected later in the year. My hope is that the next album shows more of her range singing wise (she’s got the talent, take it as far as she can go) and takes more of a creative leap and experiments with different sounds…still r&b with her signature edge but more organic musically. I’m sure I’ll enjoy everything she has in store to share!

6. Keaton Simons
7. Maroon 5
8. Natasha Bedingfield
9. Stacie Orrico
10. Vanessa Carlton
