Music I Want To Hear on Mercy

Music really is like another character in a television series and Mercy has featured some incredible artists in the first few episodes including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lily Allen, Franz Ferdinand, Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johannson, The Ting Tings, Jenn Grant, and Florence & The Machine. A full list of those featured can be viewed here. Although there are so many musical artists that have the potential to have their music appear on the show, so here are a few artists who I think have that spark!

Music I Want To Hear on Mercy

1. Jaime Lee Kirchner – She did after all star in Rent on Broadway. She’s got the voice, so why not show it off on the show? Mercy music department, please write and produce an original song just for Jamie, just for Mercy!

2. Keaton Simons – After finding Keaton Simons on Myspace last fall, he has become my favorite male artist period. His album, “Can You Hear Me” and much more music can be bought on iTunes and you may have already heard his music if you are a Harper’s Island, Crash, or Ghost Whisperer fan. His music would be a great addition to Mercy, especially the song, “Nobody Knows.” Lyrics are everything and this track says it all.

3. Lelia Broussard – If you haven’t seen Lelia’s creative rendition of “Single Ladies” on YouTube, it is a must see but aside from that, Lelia’s voice is so incredibly soulful and her style is a mix of New Orleans meets NYC meets LA. It’s brilliant stuff and my choice songs that would fit great on this show…”I’m Not Waiting” and “Don’t Let Go.”

4. Jack’s MannequinOne Tree Hill has been one of my favorite dramas in the past few years and the show featured the band which I will be forever thankful for because if not featured, I would have missed out on listening to a great band. This band definitely fits the sound, tone, and characters of Mercy. In fact, each main character on Mercy should have their own Jack’s Mannequin song to define them.

5. Mozella – She has also been featured on One Tree Hill among other shows and her sound is the most like what has already been featured on Mercy. She recently released a new album, Belle Isle which is a must have, so buy it now!

6. Erin McCarley – Erin’s range is phenomenal. She can take you on a high with “Love Save The Empty” or a low with “Pitter Pat” and either way, her songwriting creates for fantastic imagery and an array of emotions well fit for both the comedic side and drama side of the show.

7. Bethany Dillon – Not only will Bethany’s voice take your breath away, but her music will make you think about life and it’s nice to have that musical artist to go to when you need to be inspired. There are four albums to choose from to enjoy, so take your pick NBC! I could definitely see her music played in an uplifting scene or if in order to flow with moreso the music than the lyrics, a scene where the nurses are trying to save a life, there is chaos, and for a brief moment everything happens in slow motion and all you hear is Bethany’s music. That’s just one of many interpretations.

Another musical request…let’s get a Mercy soundtrack! Yes?!
