Exercise DVD Review – Dancing with the Stars: Dance Body Tone

As mentioned yesterday, Dancing with the Stars (ABC) ninth season aired in its entirety recently and now it’s time to get in shape and become a star in your own right!

“Dancing with the Stars: Dance Off the Pounds” and “Dancing with the Stars: Dance Body Tone” features three of the show’s professional dancers – Kym Johnson, Lacey Schwimmer and Dmitry Chaplin – demonstrating conditioning dance routines inspired by the show including Swing, Jive, Quickstep, Freestyle, Latin and Tango. It’s the most fun you’ll ever have losing weight and toning your body – without a partner!

On ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” contestants shed countless pounds and inches, and now you can too! With three fun routines—a sizzling Latin combo, a tantalizing Tango and a jazzy-funk Freestyle—pro dancers Kym, Dmitry and Lacey will teach you to dance like a star as you shrink your waistline and sculpt lean muscle. As mentioned in the previous Dancing with the Stars DVD review, this is a satisfying workout for DWTS fans and beginners. The dances in this DVD include Latin, Tango, and Freestyle. Kym leads Latin including the Mambo, the Cha-Cha, the Merengue and the Rumba. Her instructions were very steady and motivational which many will find to be very helpful. It would definitely be worth the buy if Kym released her own instructional work out DVD. Dmitry leads Tango, Argentine dance including lunges, fans, high-kicks and traditional Tango turns. This was different since there were 2 female backup dancers and two male back up dancers doing their assigned moves. He was again, the best instructional dance teacher of the three leaders. If I was a star on the show, I would want to be partnered with this guy. Lacey leads Freestyle which is the ultimate full body work on the DVD however Lacey leads far too quickly which makes for a more frustrating work out then a feel good work out. Once you learn all of the steps, it will be satisfying indeed, but until then, good luck getting through her instruction. Lacey and Kym lead the Cool Down, starting with Lacey who incorporates more dance moves than in the cool down on the previous DWTS dance DVD and then Lacey turns it over to Kym who closes out the workout with more stretches on the ground. One thing is for sure, you will definitely feel like your body is being toned whether you are doing one of the main 3 workouts or the cool down so make sure to get this DVD as soon you can!

– There is no partner needed to work out with this DVD.
– All of the workouts are conducted on a set similar to the DWTS set.

Features:
– You can choose to workout with “instruction” or with “music only” which are great options as once you learn the routines, it is much more convenient to exercise with simply the music.

– You can build a “custom work” out by choosing which segments you want to do and the DVD will play them without interruption! This makes for quite the nice 50 minute uninterrupted work out!
