Even though the Mercy Season 1 DVD doesn’t come out until next year, here are 7 things that I would love to see on the DVD as special bonus features. Sometimes, TV fans are lucky to get bonus features at all and in the first season, more than a handful but let’s hope NBC has a lot in store for this incredible show because it sure would be a nice treat!
7 Things I Want To See on Mercy Season 1 DVD
1) Commentary – Commentary for the Pilot and Season Finale conducted by show creator, Liz Heldens, main writers of those episodes, and the main cast would be a thrill!
2) Casting – Interviews with the casting department as well as the cast talking about the casting process as well as the show’s creators, writers, and producers discuss creating the characters would give much insight into these people that we know and love and watch every Wednesday night. Audition tapes would also be quite a kick, so we can see how much the actors have evolved into their characters since the auditioning stage.
3) Deleted Scenes – If there were one or two deleted scenes for at least 3 episodes, it would help give the viewers a look into where Mercy could have gone but didn’t for whatever the reason – and commentary for the deleted scenes would help explain the reasoning and bring an even better understanding into the world of Mercy Hospital.
4) Bloopers – The best part about bonus features is bloopers hands down. This can’t be a short blooper reel either. I’d love about 8 minutes of blooper footage to catch those crazy moments on set! This show has the perfect amount of humor, one can only imagine was is happening when the cameras are rolling but is edited out.
5) Inside the Writer’s Room – There are so many elements to a medical drama (or dramedy since it has its share of humor) and it would be nice to see how all of those elements are formed and come together, and how the writers work off of each other and their consultants to make this series.
6) Set Tour – This feature speaks for itself and it would also be most fun to have one of the leads tour the set and talk about their favorite moments of filming and such while doing so. It would be nice to see “Mercy Hospital” from a different perspective, from the production side.
7) Behind the Scenes – Speaking of production, another incredible feature would be having the cast and crew take viewers behind the scenes of filming both on set and on location, getting a look at the wardrobe department, set decoration, medical issues covered on the show, etc… getting an inside look at the different departments involved in the show. This definitely helps viewers appreciate the show more than they ever could have imagined after they see how much work is involved in putting a hit show. Let’s see it!
