Spotlight: Gavin Creel

Gavin Creel is the hottest guy on Broadway this year and if you haven’t seen him play the leading role of Claude in Hair on Broadway, you should get your tickets today. Hair did win Best Musical Revival at the Tony Awards this year. Gavin himself was nominated this year at the Tonys for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical.

He is also a Tony Nominated Actor for his role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, which was his Broadway debut. Before Hair, Gavin was in the London production of Mary Poppins and before Mary Poppins, he appeared in the Tony-winning revival of La Cage aux Folles, as well as in the world premiere of Sondheim’s Bounce. He has also starred in Honk! (American Premiere), The Mystery Plays (Second Stage / Yale Rep.) and also can be seen alongside Julie Andrews as “Bill” in the television movies Eloise at the Plaza and Eloise at Christmastime.

Gavin appears on numerous cast recordings including as Hair (2009), Bright Lights Big City, Thoroughly Modern Millie, It’s On Life, and The Actors’ Fund Benefit recording of Hair, Fine and Dandy, and Fame.

Fun Fact: Gavin has appeared in many Pre-Broadway workshops and readings including Hairpsray, Wicked, The Little Mermaid, and my personal favorite…Spring Awakening.

As a solo artist, Gavin has played to sold-out crowds in venues all across New York. His debut album, GOODTIMENATION, is now available and features 13 original songs that he co-wrote with Producer/Composer, Robbie Roth.
