X-MEN Vol. 5 doesn’t start off reeling me in but it gets better with quite a few guest characters including Captain America – that was entertaining. Overall, the season was a jumbled mix. It seems though this season was good, it just was not as entertaining as earlier seasons. My favorite episodes have to be the 2 part episodes dedicated to Storm, though I am biased with this since she is a favorite character of mine. I also liked the ending of volume 5, as it seemed to wrap up things quite well.
The only negative about the ending…well some voices and the animation changes in the last few episodes so the consistency is off. That is unfortunate because it takes away from really enjoying those episodes as much as one could have. If you are not a huge X-Men fan, something else might put you off…it seems Disney did not bother to restore the audio & video, really the video. To me, it’s a visual hot mess for this day and age. So there are no brownie points for that. There are also no special features, so that’s quite a bummer. It would have been interesting to see how everything came together for volume 5 after such an epic end in volume 4. But for X-Men fans, whether you really enjoy this season or felt it was too much of a jumbled mix, it is a must have to complete your collection!
