Top Ten Books On My Spring To Be Read (TBR) List

1. This Is Where the World Ends by Amy Zhang (Goodreads)

If Amy Zhang’s sophomore release is even a small percentage of how amazing her debut novel, Falling Into Place was, I already love it. And it’s contemporary which is the genre I don’t really consider myself a huge reader of so talk about a win!

2. The Lonely Ones by Kelsey Sutton (Goodreads)

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Kelsey Sutton‘s work. Needless to say, I cannot wait to have this book in my hands. It’s her first middle grade novel and it will be my first 2016 MG read this year so I’m very excited about all of the firsts here on top of getting new words from Kelsey!

3. I Woke Up Dead at the Mall by Judy Sheehan (Goodreads)

The title is what initially attracted me to this book. I mean, how is that title not intriguing? This novel is a humorous paranormal mystery and I haven’t read a light paranormal since…well, I think since Paranormalcy so it’s long overdue!

4. Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee (Goodreads)

She had me at San Francisco 1906 Earthquake. I don’t need to know anymore. I’m all in.

5. The Square Root of Summer by Harriet Reuter Hapgood (Goodreads)

I remember when this book first made it on my radar last March and I loved the title and was so curious about what this book was about. Soon after, the cover was revealed and it’s truly one of my favorite covers of the year. Recently, I took a look at the synopsis and discovered that this is a time travel story as the main character navigates through love and loss. Yes! I’m not big on romance but when it comes to romance and time travel, I am always on board.

6. Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick (Goodreads)

I’ve only read two of Quick’s seven novels and I am currently listening to a third but I think it’s safe to say with how moved I’ve been by what I’ve taken in at this point that he’s one of my favorite contemporary writers. So it doesn’t matter what this is about, I’m on board. Quick is a phenomenal writer. He’s such a great storyteller and he creates such authentic, entertaining, and heartbreaking characters and I cannot wait to see what he’s done in his latest.

7. Out on Good Behavior by Dahlia Adler (Goodreads)

This New Adult contemporary f/f romance is the third in the Radleigh University companion series, the second of which, Right of First Refusal actually releases TODAY. By the end of this week, I’ll be all caught up on all of Dahlia’s work which is saying a lot since again, I’m not a big contemporary or romance reader… and all of Dahlia’s work so far has been contemporary romance. So. Clearly, she’s awesome because I have loved every single one of her books. And I’m sure I’ll say the same about this upcoming early June release!

8. The Crown by Kiera Cass (Goodreads)

The Selection series is just so much fun. It’s such a light read and self described as comfort food and you can bet I’m ready for more of mine!

9. False Hearts by Laura Lam (Goodreads)

This is described as Orphan Black meets Inception. HUGE fan of both of those titles so I definitely don’t need to know anything else about this book. Just take my money.

10. Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda & Jeffrey Seller (Goodreads)

This needs no explanation.

  1. I’m really liking the sound of a few of these, so I’ll be adding to my TBR! Though maybe not until after Spring, as I already have enough to read. 😉 Thanks for sharing. Happy reading!

  2. Aah I’m so honored to be one of your contemporary exceptions!! <3 And THIS IS WHERE THE WORLD ENDS and OUTRUN THE MOON are so good; I think you'll love them!! I haven't read any Kelsey Sutton yet but I've heard such good things and I clearly need to!

  3. Ooh great list! I hope to get to many of these too, especially Hamilton, Outrun the Moon, and The Square Root of Summer. Happy spring reading, Melody!

  4. Obviously Hamilton needs no explanation. I’ve been obsessed with tracking the ticket prices for the last couple months, just to gauge how much I [can’t] afford them. You’ve got a bunch of things on this list that I haven’t heard of, though. I love that!
